Oh my goodness. Best tutorial for petite full busted and full waisted people. Your body shape is so like mine and now I know why I just couldn’t get a proper fit on arm holes and shorter body etc. thank you so so much. My frustration and the hours I spent !!!!! 😊xx

SO helpful. Thank you! I’m still new in my sewing journey (sewed basic stuff as a child in school and now approx. 15 years later I’ve picked up sewing again in order to learn to sew my own garments). I can see a lot if the issues you’re mentioning in my clothes and it was part of my motivation for learning to sew my own garments but I just wasn’t sure how to approach the issues since garment sewing is still so new to me (and a LOT more complicated than the things I learned to sew in school lol). I will for sure have to watch this video again when starting my next project so I can implement these adjustments.

Thank you for addressing the shoulder adjustment in particular. This is one of my complaints about most patterns. When they say petite adjustment they usually only refer to lengths but not width. I've had many projects disappoint because I was using the bust adjustment to pick my size but then the shoulders look ridiculously wide. One of my "quick fixes" has been to pick a smaller size and then do a full bust adjustment on the smaller size since it had a narrower shoulder. Seeing you make the adjustment at the shoulder plus the armscye makes a lot of sense. This is motivating me to make a bodice block for myself so I can compare it to patterns.

Subscribed! This was very helpful. Question though: what happens to the bustdart when you shorten your shoulder? Do you have to alter it also and if so, how? Thnx!

I’m 5’1. My shoulders to my apex is 10-1/2 inches. My shoulders are only 4 inches so I always have to do a narrow shoulder adjustment and I have sloping shoulders too.

This video is extremely helpful. I’m petite and it’s a nightmare. I’ve only recently tried dressmaking as I can never get anything to fit me. Thank you.

@@VintageonTap My husband and I are constantly debating on the correct pronunciations of words. We both are avid readers and very introverted so we didn't encounter any one else (until we found each other) who had read some of the same things and would possibly know how to pronounce obscure words. Like "cloche" and "crepe"
