#struggleisreal I have a classic hourglass body and I am also very petite in height at 4'10". I rarely, if ever , buy pants or jeans. I mainly wear dresses and skirts these days , for it is just a lot easier for me to get items that will fit me properly without needing any tailoring work.

Just a reminder that not all hourglass shapes are extremely curvy or busty, not all of us look like Marilyn lol! I actually didn’t know I had an hourglass shape until someone told me I did. As for clothes I’m also 5’3 so now I almost exclusively wear high waisted everything and crop tops, makes me look taller and my waist super cinched. She’s very right, anything high neck or low rise I avoid these days, unless I’m at home. I literally look 15 lbs heavier in T-shirt’s it’s crazy, so these tips are especially helpful for us truly petite ladies 😊

Omg the 'you look heavier than you actually are' is sooo true. I remember one time, my friend (who btw is skinny) asked me how much I weighed (she wanted to calculate my BMI or something, don't know why🤷‍♀️) and I told her my weight and turns out, it's smaller than hers. So she gave me one of those looks that said "Really? Do you expect me to believe that?" cuz of my fleshy underarms and wide torso. I'm still very self-conscious of them to this day :(

I also love oversized shirts and hoodies and usually they work for me as long as they are really oversized. Due to my bust I have the size M (but technically S when you consider my stomach area) when it comes to shirts) When I buy oversize shirts I buy like XL or bigger, depending on the brand itself since they aren't all the same. This is my opinion but if I go for a L or something that's just a little bit oversized in general it makes me look heavier which I don't like but if I buy really big clothes, it gives me a somehow cute look. It's kind of important to find the in between of "just making you look heavier" and "potato sack" which is XL or XXL for me most of the time. I don't know if that is helpful but when I was younger I often bought just slightly bigger things that were comfortable but didn't flatter me or at least I didn't like it. Ever since I go all out on those hoodies and shirts it definitely looks much better.

Like for people who have issues with trousers being too long they can easily get them altered, but it’s not easy to alter waist lines of trousers and dresses, without altering the size of the whole thing, which might make them tighter around the thighs. Fml we always have to sacrifice our our thighs or waist and unfortunately there isn’t much way to get around the thighs, so it has to be the waist.

Every tip is so on point! It took me years but I figured it out some time ago. I ditched pants for good and now I'm wearing skirts and dresses all year. Thin high waisted belts are your best friends. Also, an extra cardigan instead of thick sweaters if you're cold. Winter is still the hardest time and sometimes I don't care about the high neckline, I just don't want to freeze to death. In this case, a scarf distracts from the boobies.

Look to vintage fashion for winter friendly styles. You can absolutely style a turtleneck to flatter your chest. Just wear a fitted vest overtop. I like to wear square and scoop neck vests. I have a long torso, so I avoid V necks. If you have thick dresses with shoulder straps, you can use those instead of vests.
@wasserminze108

@@hotjanuary I've been wearing vintage fashion for some years but unfortunatly I cannot wear the style at my workplace (corporate environment) and I feel rather uncomfortable in vests and turtlenecks. I'm glad you found something to keep you warm! For me everything that opens in the front works. Open blazers, open cardigans. With heattech undershirts and thick nude tights with thin black tights overneath. Thank god for heattech underwear 😅

thank you for this video. I have had a hard time admitting to myself that I am a hourglass shape because it is always defined as "ideal" but it really doesn't feel ideal at all. when i was younger I dreamed of having an androgynous style but what looked really cool on other girls made me look like a barrel. and dresses that look cute and feminine for someone else look directly porny on me. now I am getting older and feeling more at ease with my curves and your advices really help to figure out what works or not.

This makes so much sense, I always wondered why even when I was a fit and healthy, yet underweight or average weight, (according to the bmi), I would sometimes be refered to me as being a 'big girl', I certainly didn't think I was and I wore small or medium sizes and am average height, but now after hearing this you have given me so much happiness, I wish someone had of told me this years ago, (to think of all those years I wasted crying that no matter how much I weighted I'd never be skinny enough). Yes, finally someone said those struggles out loud. I have an hourglass figure and I always struggled with the waistline of jeans. (I literally can fit three water bottles in my waist part of some of my jeans, but every other part like hips legs fit perfect in those jeans. But if the waist fits, than I cannot get my jeans up above my thighs. I also have a bigger chest, but my arms are toned, because i work out a lot.) Thx, love your video💖

I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS! Everything you said is me to a T! I am a double F with a 29 inch waist and 40 in the hips, so my ratios are insane, and as a young adult who had ZERO surgery's I constantly am told to just accept that I'm "blessed" or to wear super covering/ showy things and to embrace one extreme or the other. Now seeing this I was experimenting with my closet as I watched this. everything you say is so accurate and true about synching in the waist and how to flatter my curves but still be modest since I attend school. Being both a petite and an hourglass makes shopping for clothes so so SOOO difficult but using this as a guide should really help me in the future! Thank you < 3

@@Rissy617 There used to be brands way back in the day but not anymore, or I can't find them and definitely not at TJ Maxx or Marshalls as I also shop there. You can probably find something at a Levis store or outlet if you try on enough pairs. I gave up in my 40s and found a tailor to take in the waist. It's not cheap, but it works. The fashion industry took a huge nosedive after the recession and I've been lost ever since then. I really can't stand shopping anymore due to the cheap fabrics, ill-fitting cuts, and so on. Sigh.

This is so amazing!!!! I really love your channel and so many of your videos have inspired and empowered me. I'm a short, petite hour-glass with a large bust and omg is shopping a NIGHTMARE!!! I used to try and cover up as much as possible because people would stare at me and stuff and I've even been blamed for not covering up my bust to avoid the attention. This is such an awesome video that's really helped me so thank you so much!!!! It's taken me a really long time to try and collect a wardrobe that suits my body shape and tones and this has just confirmed a lot of what I've learned over the years. It's so nice to hear someone say that we often look heavier than we actually are and that really means a lot since I was friends with girls who were all slim rectangle shapes and was the only one with a large bust and curves. All the clothes they wore were in style and suited them great but whenever I tried them I looked big and bulky. It's also nice to know that me dressing fitted and traditionally 'formal' clothes is actually a good thing. Keep putting out amazing content like this!!! You really are a queen, thank you!!! I have an hourglass figure, with a long upper body and relatively small breast (B cup) A few weeks ago I realized that high waist Jean's don't fit me that well. My legs are smaller than my upper body and create the illusion that I'm smaller than I am. I thought I could "fix" that with high waist Jeans, but when I think about it looks kinda "off". A long skirt wouldn't be a problem, because like you said, nobody can tell where the legs start. I think I'm going to buy a few mid/ low waist Jeans. In those my butt looks better anyways. And as a teenager I realised that my boobs look better in a turtle neck etc. Because they appear bigger. This video was good for self reflection and acceptance of my body type 😌

Thank you so much for these tips! When I was younger I wore a lot of loose tops and thought I was plump when in reality I wasn't. It was also much harder to hide my chest under certain clothes as my body developed and there were things I could not wear that were not sexual but they just brought out my figure. This has made getting the right jeans much easier then before because whenever certain parts of my body felt too tight and others didn't I blamed it on my weight rather then connecting it to my body's true shape. This will also come in handy a lot as well since I have school coming up. All these years I thought I was chubby but in reality it was my clothes and shape. As a plus sized woman with an hourglass figure with extra minutes, it’s hard to find jeans. I love dresses. I have bigger upper arms too. I like a square neck or a U neck. I like things to fit, because if things are to big I look like a linebacker. I’m an F cup so yeah. Smart shaping and vintage styles are right up my alley.

Fittted tailored shirts (with hidden placket snaps to mind the gap) and wrap tops - anything that creates the v neckline look best on me. I love my turtle necks because of how they flatter my neck, so I pair them with the wrap v top or a v cardigan to break the wide chest line. Fitted waistlines with an A line skirt also look good on me - I’m not a perfect hourglass as my bottom half is slightly narrower than my broad shoulders and full bust. I also like long open cardigans as it creates a long line which makes me look a bit taller than 5’2”🤗

this was so helpful, thank you so much for not just brushing aside the whole dressing struggles because “oh, you have the most desirable body type!!” i always hate buying jeans, what you said about the shorter torso to work with is so true. i’m very high waisted, meaning that most jeans don’t even get fully past my hips, making me look a lot more blocky than i really am, especially since it all goes out again at the chest. i always look best in the a-line skirts, they cinch my waist just right and actually show my body type correctly lol

Wow I felt so attacked with everything she said in this video. I could never relate to any of the body types before but this video is so genuine and full of relatable qualities! Thank you so muchhhhh

Short waisted with longer rise person here. Couple it with being petite, though not as full on top, it is indeed easier to look shorter & stockier when I wear loose clothings. High waisted flowing pants/skirts & comfortable fitted tops are my go tos... I intentionally wear loose clothes to avoid unwanted attention though
