This must be a strong contender for the best women's match in history at Wimbledon. I don't remember a better display of serving, incredible shotmaking, aggressive but carefully constructed points, unrivalled power, solid netplay, palpable tension and fierce competitiveness from both players on the court. Not a single weak game throughout and, rightfully, the winner went on to become champion.

@Aurangzeb Ali Technical ...?? It was evident that Serena was the more subtle one in terms of disguising and changing grips but Venus clearly was technical all-rounded and sound. Her problem was hand-eye coordination in which she would overrun the shots. Of course here she was a shadow of herself having lost touch on net play, backhand and footwork, but in 2001 she was very complete. And Serena did not have a beautiful record over Kvitova.
