Petrobond Sand Casting - Melting Silver - Pouring Silver Bars

In this video, I'll be melting some generic silver rounds into some more of my RFT Channel Silver Bars, silver buttons and even a few custom hand poured silver pours using my new Devil Forge Furnace or Foundry! I'll be doing some petrobond open mold sand casting, as well as using some graphite molds. I am still an amateur when it comes to pouring and stamping as I only get a little practice every other week BUT I love trying my best and it's always a lot of fun. after the pour there is flames around the mould as it cools . What is actually burning causing there to be a flame ?

Petrobond Sand has some oils in it. They are burning off.

I place them in a rubber lined bench vice for the bottom and lay them on rubber for the backs.

All of the other pours I've seen, they use 2 blocks and clamp them together and then pour into the mold. Why are you doing it this way? Thanks

Yes, but the pour on anything less than Sterling 92.5% is not as good.
