In this video, I'll be melting some .999 fine silver shot into some Silver pours into my graphite molds and doing some open mold sand casting. I'll be using my electronic furnace this time and not the Devil Forge. I am still an amateur when it comes to pouring and stamping as I only get a little practice every other week BUT I love trying my best and it's always a lot of fun. Hopefully, you all enjoy this pour video and don't give me too hard of a time. :) Want to become a Channel Member? The first Mando helmet looked cool with a little bubbling on it, makes it look worn like Boba Fett's helmet! More realistic like literal sand wear from Tatooine or Geonosis. Great pours Rob!

I want to start pouring very soon. I've never seen this type of pouring before. But I'm curious as to why you just made the castings, but didn't use those molds, where you put them together. They're 2 pieces. Is it because the castings only have 1 "side" to them and there's no need to use the "double" mold? I hope this makes sense! Thanks in advance.

Rob, try putting your graphite molds over your electric furnace to preheat them. It brings them to higher temperatures and is harder to mess up

Great video! I'm wondering why you didn't use double sided molds for the first 5 pieces. Is it because the pieces are single sided? Thanks in advance.
@RobFindsTreasure Жыл бұрын
Yes. The molds were single sided.

Do you happen to notice what the impact that smelter has on your elect bill? Also have you done copper in them?
@RobFindsTreasure2 жыл бұрын
It's minimal. It runs for about 2 hours every other week or so. Like running the dryer on laundry day.

Question if you cover your pan with something to keep the heat in will that stop the bubbling on the sand pours? Great video and nice pours your definitely getting better filling the molds in my opinion even if a couple were a little shy they came out great thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏻👊🏻

Rob Hope about pouring your own Skunk Rounds? Didn't you say that you already paid for the mold? That way you could always meet the demand and each round would be individual and special to the owner. Just sayin' Brother!

Pouring into sand looks more difficult, since as you get to the top you can't really see because of the flames.

Nice pours! I'm new to all of this and I'm curious as to why you didn't use "double sided" molds, to make these. Every one else I see pouring, packs the sand on 1 side of the mold and then does the same thing on the other side. Then they put them together and pour. I've never seen silver poured right into 1 mold. What is the reason for that?
@scotts1356 Жыл бұрын
Rob, can you tell me where you get your silver shot from? Thanks.
