This looks great. Lots of work. Well done and thanks for the video. Why did you paint the bottom the different colors before adding the colored epoxy? Thank you.

With the shallow pours it helps make the color pop underneath. Also adds as a sealer to help prevent bubble too. Simple pre-step to add a little better quality

Great project and video. Thanks for sharing. Some questions: Did you seal the back of the sign in any way? Did you have any concerns about warping? How was the sign mounted?

Back had a matte water based clear on it. Oak is pretty stable and the several pieces had alternating grain patterns so we weren't too concerned. We installed a large steel C channel across the width as a precaution.

Is it necessary to paint the socket first? Isn't just colored resin enough?

I find pre-painting prior, helps not only the color be more vibrant but also greatly helps in sealing the carve and reducing bubbles

Great job. How deep did you engrave before the epoxy? Thank you.

I think this carve was maybe .3 to .4 flat depth

Can you explain the couple steps before you pour? What are you sealing with? Also, what are you painting with, and why?

Seal with water based matte clear. This help plug the pores to eliminate bubbles coming from the wood into the resin. Less bubble management. The color is acrylic based color. Another form of sealing the wood surface and stopping bubbles but mainly it allows the resin color to pop more if the pour is shallow, especially with white resin. Hope this helps.

What type of lighting did you use? Do you have a link to it?
