Thanks Andy, that's turned out really well, cut out my waffle and you'd have a near perfect video😂. Sack cloth and ashes time: when I was talking about the 1903 De Dion Bouton we were actually standing next to a near identical 1904 car. The 1903 car, the one that started the collection, is normally displayed in that location but had just been moved to prepare it for the London to Brighton run. I just went into autopilot and then, part way through, realised I was talking about the wrong car. Sorry everyone. If you look in the background in the workshop shots you can see the actual light green 1903 car. School boy error. Anyway, can't wait for Part 2.

What a difference a live expert accompanying you makes to a museum visit- superb. I’m lucky enough to live near Beaulieu and I often ride past on my summer evening loop. There is an even more significant Motorcycle Museum in my town, New Milton. This is Sammy Millers Motorcycle Museum. Despite having lived just a mile away for 25 years I’ve never visited. As a destination to ride to it’s always seemed too close. I think I need to put this right - maybe could be another museum you could review in the future Andy?

I’m lucky enough to live about 15 minutes from the museum. Fantastic place, they hold ‘start-up’ events fairly regularly so you get a chance to really enjoy them. Also a yearly supercar event which is like a smaller version of the festival of speed. It’s growing rapidly so I think it’ll get huge before long. Great video, Andy .👍

I attended an evening motorbike event at Beaulieu last year. My mate’s Laverda triple had problems with one spark plug and although he had a spare he had no plug spanner. I asked one of the workshop mechanics if we could borrow one. Not only did he say yes, he took me into the museum workshop to select the right one so I had a chance of a quick look round. It is an amazing place and the staff are hugely knowledgable. 👍🏻

That was a good watch, thank you. Yes, that 750 GSXR was a "slabbie", same shape as the big brother 1100 version. When I was a Boxhill boy in the mid eighties on my Powervalve, there was a regular guy there in his seventies with long white hair who had a brand new one when they first came out, he was the kiddie on that thing and he knew it. Some great characters in those days. My sister lives just down the road from this museum and I have visited a few times. It’s a beautiful museum with some incredible machines on display. I purchased a new Honda CBX in 1982 (last year of manufacture) when I was living in California. Unfortunately the bike was only about a year old when some rather nasty individuals, removed the cover, broke open the petrol cap, stuck in a rag and set it on fire. The time the fire team arrived, there was basically nothing left. I don’t think I would have ever sold this machine as it was a true classic with the beautiful six cylinder engine and looked great in the pearl white and blue lines, not to mention the Honda saddle bags which were standard on the bike in 81/82.

That 1967 Lotus F1 car is so much better looking than modern F1 cars. But motor racing was a tad more dangerous back then of course. Pity you whizzed past the scooters 'cause next to that Lambretta was what looked like a Triumph Tigress 250 twin scooter, the first motor vehicle I ever owned. Back in the '60s you could ride a 250 on a car licence (even a provisional one!) with L plates and no pillion. That's why I never bothered taking my bike test until I was 50 when I did DAS 24 years ago. I went from the Tigress straight to cars, only really discovering bikes much later in life through flying mates who were also bikers (as you know, the two interests often go together). Great video. I'm really looking forward to you getting to grips with those early machines! Vince
