Hey swoop, haven't heard your theme in a while so that was comforting And also I don't know if you take ideas from here, but I was wondering if you would be willing to do a deep dive into the issues surround the lgbtq+ community regarding the banning of health care and such, how it's effecting both teens and adults and the massive controversy of the libs of tiktok, and how this downfall led to the unfortunate death of several people including the recent teenager Nex Benedict. Just something to think about, I know your busy with other stuff, but I really would love to hear your take on this, and I know that your passionate about the serious issues, and I think the ones plaguing my community is worth looking into.

I don’t care how “hot” someone is, if they act like a total jerk who can’t respect anyone around them it’s such a turn off. Personality trumps physical appearance when it comes to seeking partners
@MountainPearls
@MountainPearls 6 ай бұрын
Yep. Can you make me laugh? Carry on a somewhat intelligent conversation (hell, many women would take “coherent and thoughtful conversation”). In all seriousness, intelligence is important (and just like personality and looks, it isn’t about being perfect…it’s whether you read, think critically, ask questions, seek information…these things matter. It’s not having the highest IQ…or however you define the term. Do you TRY…can you think and consider both sides of an issue? Much like it isn’t all being the most handsome or charming or muscular…and “perfect” … it’s about making an effort…trying… and being a decent, kind human. It’s like they heard us say “please get away from the video games and couch a little sooner before our date. Please try a little harder with how you dress, your hygiene, and health”… and went WAAAY too far. We meant smell good b/c you shower throughly and use aftershave (and shave well instead of rushing and looking sloppy before a nice date). The same goes for things like ironing your shirt (it’s not about how expensive it is to me…but did you take the time to look nice and do you know how to dress for X type of event…or seek the information out?) Did you trim your nails and toenails…Yes it makes you a bit more attractive when you do these things…but that’s not really what it’s about… mostly women want you to show that you care enough to TRY. For me, the effort you put into your appearance, the little bit of extra time, where you SHOW me what I think matters is what I find attractive. Things like that show us you respect our time and opinion. (Personally, when a man smells clean and delicious I’m more likely to feel attracted yo him). Basically, we’re likely to find you much more attractive overall soley based on the fact that you make an effort with your appearance (like many-if not most- women do). We didn’t mean for men to do all of this!!! Please…not this! We don’t want you having to live in a looks obsessed culture either! Most of us women just care if you are clean, respectful, kind, have a decent personality and you *try* (by being somewhat healthy, and doing things like ironing your shirt and shining your shoes before going on a nice date, for example). Be a good human that puts in effort and doesn’t expect women to fall in your laps with no effort…like what incels expect, ironically enough…is mostly what we want when we feel chemistry and/or see commonalities in a man we may be interested in. (I feel like that should be filed under “be respectful” automatically…but wanted to make it very clear). ETA: I was getting over a migraine. Triptans make me repeat myself. (If I can figure out how to put on eyeliner you can tune your damn nails, wash your butt, read a book, and steam your shirt!)

Of course you are gonna have your favorite dish, one that just can't be beat... but that doesn't mean you want to eat your favorite food, all the time, everyday of the week no matter if it's home, a restaurant, or someone else's place ... because then the food becomes less of a special treat and just mundane. TLDR; You have a favorite food, that just can't be beat by others. But now it's the only thing you can eat... that taste, texture and feeling you got from the food loses its special touch.

I'm a school bus driver and yesterday, when I was dropping of my *Elementary* Kiddos, one of the boys showed me a picture of some boy on his phone and asked me "Hey can you rate this person?" (or something like that)... I was slightly thrown for a half a second, but I immediately was said "No!" and the kid who asked me was like "Oh is that because he's so off the scale you can't rate him?" and I was like "No, I said 'No' because I don't rate *children*! and the kid looked shocked and then was like "Oh yeah..." like he forgot that I am an ADULT and he was asking me to rate a literal child?! I think the boy who asked me was maybe 4th grade (abt 9 or 10 yrs old).... I'm not totally sure if he asked because he's been influenced by "Looksmaxxing" on social media but I had just watched this documentary a few days ago (before he asked) and now I can't help but wonder if he's being influenced by "Looksmaxxing" which if he is... that's a scary thought that literal pre-pubescent children are being exposed to this...

The biggest thing for me has always been personality and how they treat me and others. Especially animals, kids, and the elderly. Young people, especially, are under SO much pressure to be perfect that I seriously worry about their mental health. It's sad and ridiculous that they think there is a certain female idea of perfection because there's not. Everyone has their own idea of what's attractive and what's not. Some women ARE attracted to this idea of perfection and that's their choice. But I hope that these men and boys figure out soon that it's mostly 🐂💩.

It's how your tongue should be, or at least I was taught that by my physiotherapist. I had a lot of tension headaches and I got all kinds of exercises to stretch my neck, back, and jaw muscles so they'd maybe relax a little. One of the exercises was putting my tongue behind my front teeth, or softly massaging the jaw muscle in the hinge of the jaw to stretch it out a little. It feels a little like "This physiotherapy exercise meant to help with recovery after surgery and making sure the tendons and muscles don't adhere to each other is going to make you look good." Like. No. That's not how it works.

All of looksmaxxing reminds me of american psycho (not necessarily the serial k1ller part, but the main characters other characteristics). I’m as deep into looksmaxxing as it’s probably possible to go, but also very psychopathic so I might be able to offer insight on this. At the root, looksmaxxing is just the intrasexual competition strategy of ‘self-promotion’ and aligns closely with the sexy son hypothesis, good genes theory and Fisher’s principle when sex ratio nears 1:1, that’s it in essence. Most ‘looksmaxxers’ from what I’ve seen in the obscure parts of the internet that I’ve lurked seem to be on the autism spectrum and to have experienced bullying. By extension, this imo is why there’s such an obsession with gonial angles, maxila projection, canthal tilt etc as they view attractiveness mathematically and not via aesthetics and the female gaze

Do they really think us women only want pretty guys? I don't want a pretty guy who only cares about looks. I want one who will be with me threw good and bad times, who is confident in himself. I want someone who wants to make a family with me, who will love me and like my body even when I gain weight or when I have kids and am out of shape. Someone who is there for me, and where I can be there for him. I am beautiful and I don't care for looks in men. I have a 10 year relationship and my boyfriend doesn't have huntereyes, he has hooded eyes that go downward, he has a weak chin, he is average heigt and doesn't have a sixpack. He is very beautiful to me the way he is. And for real what would it change for him to have a different jawline? NOTHING. I love my boyfriend because he is allways supporting me, he was there for me when my dad died from cancer, I was there for him when his mother almost died from aneurism. Do you think after having had these experiences we were thinking about looks? No, you treasure that they are healthy and you have time with them. My female friends don't care for looks either, they want someone who they trust and that is not only concerned with themselves. And the fun thing is since I stopped caring about putting makeup on or dying my hair or wearing the trendy clothes, I became more myself, I got more confident and I started to like myself more. I don't compare myself to others cause that's just an insecurity. Do I need to know how attractive I am on a scale from 1-10? No, I just need to like myself, I don't need others to find me pretty. Do I need my friends to look beautiful? Ask yourself that, do you like your friends more if they are beautiful? Cause in my opinion the answer should be no.

Pick-me behaviour makes perfect sense to me because it’s not about being found sexually attractive - it’s about getting validation from people perceived to be in power. These guys react badly to being found attractive by women, queer men, and nonbinary folx because that’s validation from someone they consider to be lesser. The only true validation for them is by the powerful, and that road leads inexorably to inceldom.

When men have body image issues, it's their fault. But if a woman does it's society's fault. Like who knows, it may be possible that it's not all pick-me and inceldom behaviour that leads to this. Nearly every human head is very asymmetrical. Reminds me of an assignment in an old darkroom photography class where we all made prints of our faces after cutting the negative in half and flipping it so we could pair the 2 halves into 2 new "faces." The results were dramatic, showing one side of mine was skinnier than the other, which was a more square, block like shape. Super interesting and debunks this kind of eugenics/phrenology stuff because the human norm is not symmetry but in fact the opposite.

I'm glad someone's shedding light on the fact that beauty standards are just as twisted and toxic towards men, and that it does more harm than good not just outwardly, but on the inside (mentally). More people need to see that men, too, are pressured to... do things to themselves... in order to appear more attractive"; to look more like "the guy in the magazine". From a young age, boys / men are told, "real men look like this", "real men do that", etc. And it gets lost on so many people that men are being told to put on this fake image in order to be considered a "real man". I've been self-conscious about my looks ever since I was a teenager. These "looksmaxxing" videos certainly don't help. To me, the men in all of these videos gave off a "you look terrible. I look so much better than you and I can attract any woman I want. But here's how you can look like me..." kind of vibe. These men talk like they know better than ACTUAL WOMEN as to what women want. (And it's why I never go to other men when I need advice on how to attract a woman.) All of this said, I'm glad that somehow, my will is strong enough to never give in to "looksmaxxing" or anything similar. At some point when I was a teenager, I chose to stop pursuing the "perfect male image" and decided to just start being myself. It's been FAR easier.

Why can’t we all be individuals? I don’t want to be like everyone else. I like being me, an individual.

Hey Swoop! As someone with TMJ and has physical therapy, while I never heard it called "mewing", putting the tongue on the roof of your mouth to help not clench therefore taking pressure off the jaw joint. Hope this helps!

Ayyyy! I'm a clencher and my orthodontist pointed out I already have my tongue resting on the roof of my mouth so all I had to do then was be aware and every time I was aware - check if I'm clenching. It's been very helpful!

In the end, all that fake-redpill stuff is just a way for grifters to get money from lonely young men. And they're often backed by oligarchs if you trace the money, because they benefit from people being more interested in gender wars than in politics and holding politicians accountable as public servants. They don't want to ever have to pay as large a tax percentage as regular people.

It absolutely breaks my heart that some young men are willing to take a hammer to their face because of how shitty they feel. Obviously go to therapy, but damn thats sad. Especially if they don't have access to help

I'm a woman and the man that I have madly fallen in love with and consider the most hot man I've ever met is practically the opposite of what these guys think we desire, tbh. He has doe eyes (which I personally love), soft jaw line, he does sport but doesn't lift and definitely has body fat (never been a problem, on the contrary). Every time I see men come out with these theories I'm like "Ughhhhh, seriously, again??!"

Sadly, my mom falls under this category of older women who don't really like the way she looks no matter what anyone says. My mom is around 48 now, and, for her age, my mom looks amazing! She's one of the most beautiful women I know in terms of looks for her age... but my mom is terrified of the idea of getting older still. I did my best to always compliment and reassure my mom that she looks beautiful in any outfit she gets for herself that looks really stylish. My mom always dresses up for anything, no matter where she goes. Even for something as mundane as going to get groceries. However, despite the beautiful features and beautiful body she has, my mom still has lingering insecurities stemming from way back when. She was a chubby girl like me, and people made fun of her or jeered at her for it, always saying something awful about her body... one of those people being her own mother. My mom has always feared getting old or fat out of fear of that same negative attention. She does come off as someone who is desperately trying to LOOK young instead of accepting and aging gracefully. Luckily, the only work she ever got done was a cheekbone lift since she didn't like how her face sagged, but that is about it in terms of plastic surgery. For a while, she would even do the same thing. Constantly criticize my body or fat from when I was about as young as 10, maybe younger. It instilled a lot of feelings of inadequacy in me the same way it happened for her. I'm not as hyperfixated on it from when I was young, but whenever my mom claimed she only criticized my body because she said "I would probably hate her more if she didn't in the future."... Well, it did the exact opposite. It felt like when my mom looked at me, she was being reminded of herself; it also didn't help that looked just like her when she showed me an old picture of what she looked like. The reason I bring this story up is that a lot of these issues may seem to stem from either deep-rooted trauma from family and social media. With my mom, it's the former. I don't think it's like that for all older women, but there definitely seems to be a pattern that does seem to stem from that. It's, overall, just really tragic that now young men are going through this too and being introduced to these same, if not much worse, influences.

I am so glad that I found my way out of this side of the internet a few years ago, I have (and still do to a lesser extent) experienced so much insecurity relating to my appearance. Luckily, I realized how self destructive I had become, and started on a far healthier road to my own self improvement. I truly feel for all of the younger men that fall into the pitfalls of deep insecurities, and I really hope that they can find healthier ways to look at themselves.

"Yeah bu-" No no no, not chat up, not hit on, have you ever just tried to have a conversation. With a girl. Like a regular person? I guarantee it will change your life.
