@randallsimpson3747 Nothing excuses what he did. It doesn't matter if you don't like someone, this isn't just getting a divorce and being called an a hole for leaving after having kids. Normally, you can have a stressful relationship where everyone is to blame WITHOUT offing your entire family. Let's not forget, the kids didn't get attacked because their mom was "overbearing."

@@RandallBalls no matter how awful a person is, they do not deserve to be brutally murdered as Shannan was. that is literally written in the overruling documents for most countries, such as the declaration of independence, the declaration of the rights of man and the citizen, etc; "Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person." You stating that Shannen caused her own death by acting a certain way is paramount to saying "you wouldn't have been raped if you weren't acting flirty" to a sexual assault survivor. It was CHRIS' own decision to end her life, which is one that is ENTIRELY his fault, and nobody else's.

In that time he had SA'd my uncle and three of my nieces, that we are aware of. It took me a very long time to realise that, yes, I had the power all along. It's only the silence that holds the power, not the abuser like most people think. He's in prison now and has been for the past five years. South African here - we had a case in 2013 where a well known paralympian shot his girlfriend, unaliving her through a bathroom door claiming he thought it was an intruder. I would never forget the day my mum on the phone, with me crying about my abusive ex, 3 in the morning being kicked out of the house, her words that morning NEVER left me “I don’t want you to be another Reeva” - Reeva being the girlfriend. A few weeks later my ex strangled me with a bunch of his friends witnessing and not stopping. That day I had realised I could have died. I could have been another Reeva. But I’m not. And I will NOT be. So I left. Edit: this is the most wholesome community on KZbin. @@moirapettifr7127well, Chris was probably not getting intimate with Shann’ann because she was (high risk) pregnant and chronically ill, and sex might’ve been the only way Chris felt connected to her. So, without that connection, Chris probably started to dislike her and as he said, thought a baby would fix things. But he was already too far gone, and at that point- he now had to explain to his mistress why his wife was newly pregnant even though they were going to divorce? Of course at times he acted like the baby might not be his. Yet, Shann’ann loved Chris and was trying to make it work. Instead? He tossed the sled help book and kept screwing his mistress until the mistress was tired of being #2. And now that’s all she will ever be, poop.

I really hate that too. I have my own theory about why some people do that. To me, it seems like Shannan was a really awesome person. Some people may be jealous of her but that's not the whole picture. You see, with the way things happened, it could really happen to anyone. They are saying things like she was bossy, she was a bad mother and she spent too much to make it seem that caused her own demise. They can feel superior, and since they think that they don't have those attributes, it gives them a false sense of safety making them think that it couldn't happen to them. Then again, some people are just plain nasty. So that explains it.

Anna Victrix• I truly believe that it was bc over the weekend, SW had been talking to her about how she and CW had been having issues all summer, how he didn't want the baby, but she had ordered him a book about working on their marriage & he'd promised to read it & try to make it work with her.....and on the plane ride home, or at dinner b4 the got on the plane to leave, Shannan got that text alert from the bank notification that CW had that unusually high bill from (the name escapes me atm). She called him to ask him what he ordered & he said salmon & 🍺 beer. She then looked up the menu online and saw that tge math did not add up. Not unless he paid for another person's meal. She was suspicious. A woman knows deep down when something like this happens. But we still may have to talk it thru with a friend to see if we're crazy or in denial or just to get another viewpoint. I believe Shannan talked to NA about this restaurant tab. I believe she planned to talk to CW the next day...since she was getting in so late. NA knew Shannan had an ob appointment in the morning and dropped her off, telling her to call her if she needed her to go along to help with the girls. That's why she was on her mind that morning, first thing. Shannan hadn't called her, so Nicole called her to check on how she was doing. We know the rest from there. She knew damn well Shannan had not told her anything about the girls having a play date that morning. Especially when she went or the house & could see SW's car with both car seats in it. Idk if Shannan ever made it upstairs that night or I'd she was attacked as soon as he walked inside the house. If she did go upstairs, she may have not meant to bring up the restaurant tab then but her blood may have been boiling & she may not have been able to help herself. Did CW admit then, that there was someone else? We will never know. I probably will always have questions about how everything played out. I do know that without NA being the friend she was and her quick actions that morning, who knows what CW and NK may have gotten accomplished.. .

girl you summed it up I watched my horribly abusive "stepdad" strangle my mother to near death. that's when she finally had enough, pressed charges, and left him. I still remember those bruises. a few years later, he killed a man. don't ignore warning signs, stay safe out there. Edit: kinda forgot about this, and seeing the conversations had has been...a mixed bag of emotions. it's important to get rid of the stigma and victim blaming that comes into play in domestic violence. my mom was on a lot of very strong bipolar and depression medicine during these years and she was like a walking zombie. never EVER would she let someone treat her like that otherwise. she was vulnerable, and that's when these types of people attach themselves to their victims. obviously some people have very little class but some of the worst have been deleted. I also want to apologize for some of my later comments- that particular person struck a cord with me and I threw a lot of my character out of the window in defensiveness. I have a lot to work on, and I'm trying to be a kinder, less abrasive person. two wrongs don't make a right, and while what that person said was vile and cruel, I could have responded more gently and with more maturity. important conversations will never be successful in a hostile environment, and I would like to lead by example with that.

Absolutely. Like how the neighbors say he would “go crazy.” Or the bff’s immediate distress when she went missing for a few hours; she called the cops despite Chris’s reassurances, so she had zero trust in him. The fact that he strangled and smothered them all, when strangling is usually an end stage escalation, not a first assault. There’s so many signs that there could have been a long history of abuse. IMO I believe he was an undercover narcissist, ie a narcissistic abuser adept at hiding the abuse because appearances mean everything to them. I believe that’s why he didn’t go for divorce: ironically, IMO he didn’t want to look like a bad guy for leaving two babies and a pregnant wife for another woman; it was better if he seemed like the poor victim because they all just “disappeared.”

We now know the reason SW wasn't feeling well is because CW had given her narcotics in an attempt to cause her to have a miscarriage. In reality the wheels were set in motion that led to him getting caught the moment he poisoned SW because had she not been feeling well, she wouldn't have scheduled the appointment he wasn't aware of which caused NA to call LEO when she knew SW had missed her appointment.

The scariest thing I ever did was get up from the ground in the middle of the woods behind our house (he thought he killed me and dragged me into the woods to hide my body) and walk to a neighbors house to call for help. I was terrified and started crying to the officer about how I know I was going to jail but could I at least make sure my kids have somewhere safe to go first..to which he looked at me like I was insane and said “ma’am you could have hit him with your car and it still wouldn’t justify what he did to you. Nothing that happened here is your fault. You’re safe I promise” and I was in so much shock I almost passed out. tih0121. Yes exactly, I think the reason LE moved so fast to get him “off the street” was because if you can do what he did to the closest people to you & innocent children at that, youare capable of absolutely anything & no one is safe. CW is a monster & that sleaze bag mistress was definitely involved, at the very least, she knew it was going to happen, I believe NK gave him the OxyContin that he poisoned Shan’ann with, in the hope of causing a miscarriage and she wanted Shan’ann dead. CW & NK are two of the most selfish people I’ve ever come across, he will never leave prison upright but she needs to be investigated, interrogated & strapped to a polygraph but that’s not going to happen because she did a deal with the DA and was able to walk. No one will ever convince me that the mistress was not in on it and if not, the one that pushed him to do it. She has lied about everything including her saying that she didn’t know if they were going to get a divorce. She didn’t know….but then she’s googling “how to marry ur MISTRESS” not “how to marry after a divorce” or “how long after divorce can u remarry” no HOW TO MARRY UR MISTRESS!!!!!! It is maddening that they did not put her in jail!!!!! 😡

After I left my abusive partner I took a course on DV, our relationship was LITERALLY textbook. Was devastated to realize if I’d known that information before we met, at 16, it’d would have saved me 7 years of trauma. We need to teach kids about the signs of grooming and DV and how to get help.

When I was in college in my early 20’s this young man - showed me romantic interest- I too became interested in him as well. Shortly, I learned he had a wife a few kids and a newborn at home. I avoided him like the plague. One day he approached me and asked me out - I told him. You have a wife and kids at home. Go take care of her. Time passed and one day he approached me and said he respected me a lot - I asked, how so? Because I can see you like me as much as I like you but you respect I’m married. I listened and said bye and kept walking. “ these women that infiltrate marriages only think about themselves. The suffering of the wife and kids is something that never enters their minds. This Nicole sounds scary 🫣 and detached from the fact that this man just killed his two babies and wife. She still thinking of him as ‘cute’. Monster! I think she lied about everything and she knew a lot more than she led on.

Thank you Swoop. It means so much that you bring the issue of strangulation to light as not always being fatal but can be a warning. This is very important for people in domestic partnerships to understand. You coverage of Gabby Petitio was second to none. An Influencer Alexis Sharkey was said to have a history of strangulation by her partner and later he wound up taking her life. Thank you for your interest in not only getting these stories out here but thank you for explaining harmful patterns in a way that can at least let people know it's a warning sign of potential danger. It helps those of us who try to be there for our friends in these situations as well.

I read the discovery too and think she was culpable in some form. I definitely think there's evidence to support she was aware of the plan, not sure why they never prosecuted her, weirdly I think it's because CW protected her and said she didn't know anything. Cell phone records and different inquiries she made and googled suggests otherwise though.

How delusional is this guy? The nerve! First of all I would strongly disagree that Chris is not a danger to the public. A person who can strangle/suffocate their own children not once but twice should never be trusted again. Secondly it wouldn’t matter If we could somehow prove he’s not a danger to society, that’s not the only reason he’s behind bars. He is being PUNISHED. Rightfully.

I agree, I have worked 911 and been in federal policing for 13 years and people are always surprised when I say you can put in a missing person report when you feel it is not normal. Even if they have only been missing for an hour. No such thing as waiting 24 hours, especially for children. Although, I have heard of 911 operators telling people there is a 24 hour period. If you get this from someone, push through it. Call back, get someone else, ask to speak to a supervisor or someone in the missing person section. Some people haven't been trained properly.

So I looked this up and it doesn't appear there's a single state in the USA that does have a waiting period to report someone missing, but this isn't a federal law (meaning a state could choose to change this if they wanted to for some unknown reason) But it is against federal law for a state to impose a waiting period to report someone under the age of 21 missing (Suzanne's Law expanded this from 18 to 21 for Suzanne Lyall who went missing when she was 19) Just thought that was interesting
