Ever hear of a 'debate' tactic known as a Gish Gallop? Ben 'If I wish upon a star, I'll be a real boy' Shapiro practically breathes it. All it is is talking loud and fast over the opposition, frequently changing the subject until the opposition gets exhausted and frustrated. Fool-Of and A-Took are less graceful about it than Ben 'My Wife, the Doctor, says the female orgasm doesn't exist in marriage' Shapiro but both sides use it against their perceived inferiors. Frog Butt and Swamp Ass use it against younger women and Ben 'Step on me, AOC' Shapiro uses it on off-the-cuff college freshmen.

I've noticed that they're most angry at women out of their league. It annoys them that Instagram models, bloggers and independent women are not interested in them because they have nothing they can offer them in return. You can only give her support and show that you are proud of her. The problem is that these "gentlemen" do not want to be a support and partner. They want to be on a pedestal and say "if it wasn't me, you would have nothing". Note that their advice does not refer to how to attract resourceful women who can take care of themselves. This advice applies to women with low self-esteem from poor backgrounds. You cannot impress the rich with abundance, but those who have experienced poverty are easy to impress. Not all poor people are like that, but if all antelopes were strong and healthy, the lions would starve to death. Do I call them predators? Yes. Do I think they are dangerous? Yes. Should we destroy these "gentlemen" self-esteem and undermine the importance of their successes? Abso-f-ing-lutely

I did my senior capstone thesis for college on the effects of the sexualization of the female body on breastfeeding. While doing my research I came upon the term benevolent sexism. It’s where women are put on a pedestal as pure and virtuous. This is still harmful though because it puts women in a protected bubble and views them as weak. It’s another way of limiting women, while appearing to respect them. Ned represents this aspect of sexism while the manosphere represents traditional sexism. Both are harmful.
@searipple91
@searipple91 Жыл бұрын
That checks out. I also observed this being a tendency amongst some close men relatives. While in their early years they seem to uphold women as these fictional saint characters on pedestals, looking through rose colored glasses, then as they age and become a little bit more jaded, cynic, disenamored they won't shy away from flat out mysoginism. The bottom line is this kind of people really struggle to live in reality and might never come to the realization the human mind is what we all have in common, makes us all equal and feel less alone. It's frankly pretty sad. The way they don't really listen and can't really see.

These attitudes are why I spent all of my early dating years militantly insisting on "going dutch" on dates, refusing offered drinks, and making sure I always had my own way there and back. I didn't think "ALL MEN" viewed every moment in a date as a transaction, but I knew enough men did, that I didn't want "owe" anyone anything. Didn't want to take the risk. It wasn't until my partner and I shared a bank account and funds, and rent that I stopped caring about who paid for what.
@bridgetcooney5085
@bridgetcooney5085 Жыл бұрын
I should say, I probably, and if I think about it definitely, made some well intentioned gentlemen uncomfortable. But I was too aware, as an Internet denizen, of the portion of men that thought of dating as a transaction. So I felt like I had to set expectations by paying equally. I probably lost out on a few people who saw gentlemenness as duty rather than a transaction. But it was worth it to me, to avoid someone who thought they could buy me. And that's something I had to think about as a "mid tier" woman. At least according to most of the guys that perpetuate this bs. Can't imagine what women who are both "top tier" and not famous enough to have bodyguards, have to go through.

Your analysis is spot-on as always, but I find the clips of these men so frustrating. At 67 I've been a feminist all my adult life, and yet now, in the age of social media, these ugly and dangerous ideas are gaining traction, rather than disappearing! We need this new generation of younger women to step up and beat them at their own game - using social media to educate and inform, and counter the destructive narrative that these (poor excuses for) men keep peddling.

I put on this older TV channel for my father with dementia and what I've always noticed the older shows starring minorities (women, PoC) are so relatable to today and issues I go through as a 41 year old working woman of color. And this is after 50+ years. And yet the white male starring shows that I remember liking as a child bother me so much as an adult. Three's company to be specific is so misogynistic, homophonic, racist, etc and I feel it with every joke they give or how they make the blond the dummy who just knows nothing at all and the brunette is the troll no one wants... But she's smart! It's so frustrating to listen to.

While I can see where you are going, it’s not a woman’s job to educate a man that a woman is actually equal to a man. We can’t convince them to love us or respect us… If they don’t want to, they won’t. What we need to do is educate young women about this, about this type of man and how poisonous he is and how to spot him and how to avoid him. We need to teach our girls not to put their value in men’s opinions, but to value themselves by themselves. Respectfully ma’am

My favourite part of the Manosphere is their inability to provide successful examples of actual Alpha Males by their own definition. Instead always relying on some insta-famous guy seemingly peddling a course. If you do come up with celebrities who actually meet their definitions of an Alpha Male who is winning at life, you don’t get any of the sort of men that are actually looked up to, (Henry Caville, Jason Momoa, etc,) but end up with the slimey sort of weirdos and monsters most people shun. Jimmy Saville, usually fits their dark triad framed definitions perfectly, (his “public persona” especially,) but even their most charitable readings still give the likes of Hugh Hefner. I mean it’s obvious why they don’t use real examples, could you imagine anyone paying someone to help them become more like those sort of guys?

It's amazing how some men complain about the "pandemic of single men," but when women complain about the ongoing pandemic of sexual assault that's done against them, it falls on deaf ears. It really shows the disconnect those men have with priorities, showing what importance they put on certain things. They just don't care about the disparity of issues that exist between the sexes, and even when sexual assault happens to other men (except when it happens from a gay man, but that's a conversation for another time.)

Here is something that I also think that was going on with Ned. First, I want to preface this by saying that I'm not a Try Guys fan, & I've never been into their videos. With that being said, about his "wife guy" persona. I agree 100% in the fact that he exploited his wife. He knew that the viewers, subscribers, & most importantly in my opinion, brands would absolutely love that. That squeaky clean family man, my wife is life image, that appeals & tugs at the heartstrings of many. & just like Swoop said, who wouldn't want a relationship like that? A woman most definitely would want a man like that in her life. Another thing though, that I think may have happened is, this is not Ned's first rodeo. I think he's tested the waters before & has had affairs. Whether it was on his wife previously or in other relationships, idk. I also think due to his notoriety, he felt untouchable. His ego got to him. But the main part of what I was thinking about, is the fact that his "wife guy trait" was in my opinion, a way to over compensate for the simple fact of his infidelities. He knew what he was doing with another woman/women, so he love bombed the hell out of his wife online, at any possible chance he could. No one would ever suspect a thing. He probably thought in his mind, that was justifying the acts. "Even though I may be cheating, I still love my wife. I show her that, by telling the whole world. See?" Those are just some of my thoughts. So with adding that little nugget of detail, plus all of the other things mentioned above, you have a recipe for a calculated, manipulative way to deceive everyone around you.
@agwarddd
@agwarddd Жыл бұрын
A note that hasn’t quite got out with the rest of the story is that there was once a person who claimed to have met the Try Guys on a night out. Ned was drunk and behaving sexually with other women publicly and this person took note of it, bc of how it conflicted with Ned’s image, as the doting husband. They eventually up to Keith, the tall one of the guys, and asked if Ned was usually like this, where Keith reluctantly admitted that he was. I definitely think, based on their overall reactions, that Ned actually cheating was kind of a surprise to the guys, but they were aware of bits of his behaviour and knew that he was prone to this kind of sexually forward, even almost aggressive, behaviour with other women. I think it was easy to overlook this sexual flirting for a friend by turning on the blinkers and thinking “well, he’s just drunk and flirting”, until it was standing directly in their faces as a full blown affair with an employee of their company, bc this not only betrays his wife but their company under CA law. The suspicion and the doubt of how genuine he was was always there, but easier to ignore before it threatened EVERYTHING. And I don’t think that necessarily makes the other guys bad, just that there was a certain breaking point to all of it, where protecting a friend and what they’ve built together reaches an untenable point, bc he’s effectively putting everything from his marriage and kids to the company they have built completely at risk.

That clip where these dumb little boys are like "everything is the same, just one has more money" gets me every time. They really thought they proved how money hungry women are, completely disregarding the fact that she was going to list other qualities she cared about MORE than money. No one has ever said that they don't want someone who can provide a comfortable lifestyle, but a lot of women [people in general, but they're talking about ladies specifically] care more for values, personalities and goals than they do money. Like I'm sure a ton of people would rather live with someone they find fun and interesting while still having to work hard over being paid to live with these chucklenuts. Obviously, some people are going to do it- but thats THEIR specific values, not any group or classification as a whole. It just makes me laugh that they think they're so big brain, but they're not fooling anyone with an IQ over 3

No woman will be special to these men if they only value sex and compliance in women. The human element, individuality that you won’t see unless you get to know someone on a deeper level is what makes all of us special.

The expert level of petty of never calling them by their chosen nicknames while simultaneously coming up with better nicknames, is just chef's kiss. I keep having to pause to stop laighing.

Does Fit's mama know where he's at? I can vividly picture her bursting into the room during a podcast one day and hauling him off by the ear. He's got his neck all turtled down into his body, fear and submission in his eyes. His guests hearing him plead for forgiveness all the way down the hall and out the door. We all know he's that guy.

I just discovered this channel while scrolling for something to listen to at work, and today is my birthday! I'm going to consider discovering this channel to be my birthday gift from the universe! I love your videos! Well done! I look forward to seeing more!

This was satisfying. Thank you. He has to qualify all of his statements. Feeble minded. No one wants them and they’re bitter.

You calling bacon and eggs, Tom and jerry, steak and potatoes multiple names and not by their actual names which now I actually can't think of LOLOL is amazing

Hot DAMN! I just finished cooking chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes, just in time to sit down and see this new video from My Favorite Documentary Queen......SWOOP! Yay! I've really enjoyed the unravelling of this Ned Fulmer of the try guys. I'm praying for his wife. God bless her. Thank you, Swoop!

Although this video is interesting and informative, it’s also worth watching for the various nicknames given to Fresh and Fit. I laughed out loud at a few 😂

This might sound extreme, but honestly the manosphere stuff should be considered straight up hate speech. As a DFV Specialist I deal with the outcomes of the abuse perpetrated and normalised by these wanks on a daily basis.

Honestly you're a star for listening to tweedledum and tweedledee to such an extent that you can make an informative video on them, I cringed and had to skip over a lot of the clips you put of them in this video. A hero we don't deserve!

I wish this could have included the hilarious clips of them getting called out and read to filth on other podcasters 😂 I love the one where the duo ended their interview with Bert and he embarrassed himself because I don't think he had Ernie with his gangly ass so his confidence was diminished 😂
