For any history buffs-that truck is a CMP-canadian military pattern made in mass numbers for the war-some are still around, they are worth a fair bit for old trucks of their type. I heard she was a child star-nice to see this old stuff, thanks for posting it!!

That's if she's still alive by that time. But I think she has a good sporting chance.

@@c.syde65 Petula was on stage in London in “Mary Poppins” on her 89th birthday and was surprised with a birthday cake by producer Cameron Mackintosh and the whole cast sang “Downtown” as well as “Happy birthday “

I love Petula, she's like the young american but is popular in europe version of Kathryn Beaumont from Disney's 'Alice in Wonderland'. It's sad she's old now, beauty truly fades but someday in heaven, the beauty will come back, many times even. God bless, Revelation 21:4

You can stuff it , Pet doesn't need all those bible sermons and she's still radiant. She's 91, alive and well and still sings loud , out and proud for our greatest joy! She's "uptown " with the best and greatest and she's still here with us!

Weird. The front of the truck is rocking like a little boat being passed by a very big boat, but the back is stable. I reckon the noise of a CMP truck would drown out any singing or talking anyway, given the type of transmission and the flattie V8 geared down as it was. No way could the men in the cab hear what the girls in the back are doing,

This is 1948 British film land .all done in the studio and nothing like reality !
@keithammleter3824
@keithammleter3824 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikeyenfield : More or less. The scenery shot first on location, then back projected in the studio, with stage hands rocking the truck. And the sound recorded later in a sound studio and added to the final cut of the film. Probably the scenes of the driver and his mate shot on a different day to the girls, so the stage hands inadvertently applied a different rocking. A "continuity" person is supposed to spot this sort of inconsistency.

@@keithammleter3824 Very low budget in those days!
@keithammleter3824

@@mikeyenfield : Indeed. If it was a mainstream American movie in 1948, they would have spent $100,000 recreating an outback desert in a sound studio. In this case in Britain they probably paid someone a few hundred $ to go out with a 16 mm camera and shoot some footage for back projection. However, despite British film outfits spending very little money by American standards, they still mostly produced very good films of better entertainment value.

@@keithammleter3824 Absolutely and the Huggett trilogy was very popular with British audiences in those post war years and it was Petula Clark’s first recording only released as a promotion by the Rank Film Organization to Radio and cinemas
