That headlamp has some really nice features. I've had a Petzl Tactikka for years. Still a great headlamp. I'm sold on Petzl products. Are you filming in Pa? -Krik

Thank you for watching. Petzl Tikka RXP Headlamp is able to be customized for the red light to turn on first so that you wont loose your night vision.

The Red night vision mode can also be set from constant to flashing... , when "reactive" lighting is on and you enter a brightly lit environment , the lamp will auto turn itself off , as stated tap the button on the side to toggle between "Reactive mode"(reacts to local ambient light and dynamically adjusts from 7 lumans to what you have selected as the max level - "Constant mode" (does not use the light sensor) each of these modes has 3 selectable lamp levels that are each "programmable" in the software from a covert 7 luman local flood that illuminates the ground directly in front of you with a defuse flood lamp,, to a 215 luman spot lamp beam and "Red illumination only night vision mode" ,as the brighter light levels are selected it fades from local flood lighting to spot beam projection. mid light levels mix both the two lamps.. you can select a program for low light long burn time ,, the software (not required) gives you light output verses battery life graphically allowing each of the 3 selectable levels to be custom set up to ones preferences.

Great video. Can you adjust burn times when using just regular AAA's or does that have to run through the port on the battery pack?

Is there a way that you can set the headlamp to show the "red light" setting FIRST? I am looking for a headlamp that I can use at night that will not take away all of my "night vision." Thanks

Yes ,, select night vision mode and power off. it will then power up in night vision mode "by default" after doing so.. designed to do that so you wont have to deal with having your night vision impacted by a flash from the normal lamp. while trying to toggle to night vision mode ,, it remembers it was set to night vision mode the last time it was used..

Is it possible to switch directly to red light? I need it for astronomy observation, my current headlamp first turn on with white light and then they switch to red. I'd like to turn on and off the lamp and stay on red light. Is it possible with this model?

Nice light but for the money I will go with the Yalumii Spark Pro for $25. Lasts 110 hours on 120 lumens.
