Great video Dave. Did a similar job on my wife's Audi A2 (long since sold) which involved removing the subframe console to get the wishbones out. These were solid wishbones with surface rust, but some cars have pressed steel wishbones that were structurally unsafe with excessive corrosion. Fitted Meyle HD parts, which will outlive the car. Difference was this was done on a driveway. When I win the lottery I'm going to buy a workshop and drink tea all day!

With the correct tools you made splitting that lower balljoint a gift, thanks Dave.

Great video Dave. Done one of these on 207 went in for a cuppa came out to the gearbox oil all over the floor oops then spent a fair bit of time refilling it through the breather hole, took longer than fitting the wishbone lol

Legend. Was stuck on this with drivers side bolt. Great tip. Wish i done that on passenger side but had already pulled the driveshaft out of the gearbox 🤦‍♂️

I've done this on my Mrs' Peugeot 307 - it's a 1.6 petrol and is coming up for 170k miles! Still runs great though. Like you, the driveshaft popped out. It wasnt too bad to refill. It refills from above the gearbox. Looks like I really need to get one of your "assistants". The air hammer would be useful too but I don't have a compressor. Thanks for posting, Dave.

Put new coil springs in a 207 yesterday, I noticed the ball joints were getting towards end of life so I angle grinded them off (wasn't so bad) and fitted the new ones with the supplied nuts & bolts. Just use a wet cloth to cover any rubber CV boots, bushings, etc: to protect from the sparks off the grinder 👍🏼

Went for the cheaper option of just buying the ball joint used a battery grinder to take the lugs off easy enough. But wish I watched this video before had the drive shaft does pop out easy well least the gear box got fresh oil. Great video and what jig is that you used a lot easier than wrestling with the wishbone.

Nice bag of rust that one Dave , I just love the length of the pin on the ball joint , not interested in just fitting a ball joint ad you say , not worth it I've ordered the storm induction heater, I emailed bos job and they confirmed sole uk distribution rights are to Jack , why pay nearly 830 quid plus vat for one when you can buy at nearly a 3rd of the price , have you seen the little red combined 12 volt diesel air heaters on flea bay , just over a ton , I messaged Sandy about them after watching a video of kevin William's doing clutches outside in the snow , cracking piece of kit, but I bet your garage is central heated 😂😂😂😉👍
@davesterl
@davesterl 3 жыл бұрын
You'll love the induction heater. 2kw is what you need as the handheld ones don't last, half the power. Ye can buy sealey 2kw coils on fleabay £20. I have an infrared heater on the wall and a diesel space heater for a quick burst of temperature. The space heater eats all the oxygen tho. Sure we love rusty peugeots. Cheers

Do you have any idea if the wishbones on 207 GTi models are different? Keep hearing different things but nobody can explain the difference if there is one.

I will suggest you, a ball joint separator, for the tie rod end, no hammer no nothing. even the difficult one, easy.... nice video.
@davesterl
@davesterl 3 жыл бұрын
There are lots of different ways of doing things, sometimes a separator is necessary, sometimes not.
@Lambros_Stefaneas
@Lambros_Stefaneas 3 жыл бұрын
@@davesterl of course they are, I don't disagree at all, the most that I think is good to use the separator, is mostly for the customer (the weird one)or the owner of the car,maybe find it 'strange ' or doesn't like it to hammering his car, specially if his somewhere around the car and his seeing what are we doing or something similar etc etc. (I had a similar situation with a customer, and from since than, I purchase the separator, no bad comments.. from customer, and actually, it's working very good, I m surprised)please, Don't take wrong way my comments, it's from my hurt. if you thinking that I am 'pointing you' or anything, please delete my comments. what's the brand or model you was using to pull down the low control arm? I haven't seen it before, looks like it's working very good.
