I've a 2010 diesel Nissan Note with the Renault turbo engine. Thank goodness it doesn't have a DPF. 340,000kl on the clock, still runs sweet. Changed the oil and filter after 1000klm, which the old oil contained metal glitter. Seems that all the edges have been knocked off. Changed the oil well below what's recommended for the oil change. Mpg is hasn't changed after 14 years of ownership. Look after it then it looks after you. Great video Jimmy keep those oil burners on the road. 👍👍👍

Hello Jimmy, I've got a 11plate 1.6hdi Exclusive its on 140000miles and I've had it since 53000 bought it eight years ago. I love the bloody thing I service it twice a year no matter what and its never let me down, a couple of month ago whilst stood idling it started to miss very slightly, cut a long story short changed glowplugs took egr apart and mr muscled it job done back to normal, next job is a refurbished back beam cause the bushes are cracking up, I did think about getting a 66plate the last of the MK1's but then you get into all the adblue crap. I've also got an Audi A3 1600 diesel that does a million miles to the gallon. Happy Days..... Love your approach to it all and great videos as always. All the best from Pete

It's unthinkable that a tanks that needs regular refilling is hiding under the car and has to be disassembled to refill. A more suitable fill line should allow the user to fill it and not require a scanner to reset the value - it's just another way to get more money for the dealers. You are right, it's the emissions control stuff that gets most problems and costs more to repair.

I find that the sweet spot for me anyway is around 65-17 reg for diesel cars when they put the Euro 6 engine without the adblue and pat fluid tanks.... At least on the 1.5 dci engine.

Its why ive went back to an 09 plate car. New vehicle's can just be an absolute headache when things go wrong with them. Its not like you can put the bonnet up and knew what the issue is with the older vehicle's. The new vehicle's i recon about 85% of time you'll need a some sort of a diagnostic machine to pretty much point you in the right direction as theres so many sensors of some sort. Even to change a head light bulb you either need to dismantle half the car near the light or it takes about an hr to do compare to 10yrs ago it would be done in about 15 - 20mins both sides 😧

I may be wrong but I think it would not let you do a manual entry saying it needs to be digits only because the amout you were putting in was more than the maximum amount that it can take (according to the manufacturer). Would be nice if it showed the max value somewhere but ot doesn't..

My peugeot partner had this, i didn't even know there was an additive tank till it coded up. Scandalous there isn't an accessible filler point.

My father's 207 SW also clearly displayed it needs an eolys refill. Also it put on the screen if I recall correctly the dpf pressure was high... Interesting. Is there an improvement since then, and the new cars only tells us to go to the dealer and flash cash ? :D

For anybody with a Peugeot / Citroen - FILL THE FUEL TANK RIGHT UP - as there is a sensor on the filler flap - everytime it is open - the car thinks it has had a full tank of fuel so starts injecting the PAT fluid in - so if people just put small amounts of fuel in the tank will empty quicker and well before the 80-100,000 miles it should last when Peueot / Citroen first went to the HDI stuff - there were LOADS of complaints about them clogging up as NOBODY knew about the additive tank not even the dealers !

Quick question on these but the semi auto box. Just got a sign on dash saying “gearbox fault, repair needed”. I started car and put into auto and wouldn’t move and showed me a warning light which turned out to be the gearbox fault. Switched car off and came back to it an hour later and problem disappeared and engaged gear and driving but it did say “ECO MODE”. Read some forums and people keep saying that if the battery has a fault then these PSA engines can throw up a lot of faults like this so change battery first before touching any actuator problems these gearboxes can have. So just wondering if anyone knows this to be true??? I know salvage cars that haven’t had battery connected do throw up faults and once you’ve got a good battery on they do go away so is it the same with these and that they’re very sensitive or do I actually have a gearbox fault??? Thanks in advance

Best cars made were in the mid to late 90s (bloody good decade). They had just enough refinements to be comfortable, less tech to be reliable, allowed you to actually drive them and were definitely built more solid. Actually welded and not bonded together. I worked on a new shape VW Crafter the other day that had a sliding door issue. It turned out that the mid sliding door rail is bolted to the outer skin. The outer skin had unbonded from the inner structure, so the weight of the door was pulling it away, causing the door to not operate properly. I really can stand any of these new cars and vans. All sh*t in my opinion... and don't get me started on dual mass flywheels. If it ain't broke, then don't fix it, comes to mind.

Jimmy the pipe you disconnected and used to fill system looked like it was going away from the tank. Is it a filler pipe and you just disconnected it from a dummy connection on side of tank?

The pipe goes to a bag inside the tank. the fluid is inside a pouch type bag, not an open style tank like, say, fuel adblue, etc the male conector goes to the pat fluid pump, that sucks the fluid up then there will then be an outlet pipe from the pump to the fuel tank. The bags also deteriorate over time and leak into the tank and that prevents the pump from sucking up the fluid.

This is actually my car. It was serviced about six weeks ago, by myself. The reason the service interval counter has not been reset yet, is because my laptop with Diagbox is 300 miles away with a friend and his Citroen. But I know it looks bad, I can assure you that all of our cars (three) and a van, are serviced before the interval. This particular car has only been in our ownership the past six months and is a bit of a work horse.
