9:50 It's really weird tbh. When I was a teenager I had a channel where I was making short films for like 3-5 years and didn't get much traction. Then I started this channel for shitposting and currently my biggest video is a re-upload of that bass-boosted woodpecker video. All I did was move the audio over a few frames because the original was not synced and it bugged me. Literally a grand total of 3 minutes of effort got me more views and subscribers than 3-5 years of original content and hard work. It may not have been very good original content but still, the effort-to-views ratio I saw was really disheartening.

I know it feels bad, but I think every youtuber has noticed this. Markiplier talked about it with his Meow video being the most viewed despite the insane amount of work put into Date with and In Space. Effort doesn't necessarily mean views rake in and quality (to a certain point) isn't what people search for. Try to remember that KZbin IS TV. TV is the least amount of work for brain to do regarding entertainment because everything is fed do you, visuals, sounds and story and it's pre-recorded. (unlike games or books or even going to a play or watching a streamer where random things can happen) The lowest common denominator is full of people usually looking to turn their brain off and have a few haha's, that's why the biggest content is always gamers/people doing cool/funny things, skits, or drama/reality TV type stuff. People watch things to turn off their mind most of the time because they work or go to school most of the day until they retire. Doesn't mean good quality content about other things shouldn't be bothered with, but they will never reach the same numbers the other stuff will because it's just plain not as easy to digest. So try to remember that when you put a lot of effort in. You're putting in that effort because you're proud of the video you made or the content it has. KZbin really isn't a place to make quality (again, up to a point. It's a diminishing returns problem) and hope to rake in the cash. You make a well thought out/edited video because you like the video, not because you're hoping for views/money from it. Also, depending on the content you do, sometimes it means a lot more to reach a few people with something you say or create rather than millions watching something funny. Both have value, both mean something, but one is just easier for the majority to intake, especially if it's a 5 minute or so commitment. And this goes for other things too. Accessibility if the game is numbers is really important. A familiar meme fixed is exactly in that ball park.

Agreed! Listen, I do like Mrbeast. At least before all this. And as far as I am aware, he himself has not done anything to a minor. But it does seem like he would do anything in the world to make more money and more subs. One day in December 2018, T-Series lost over 100K subscribers instantly because of an audit and in June 2016 PewDiePie lost over half a million from an audit.
