This case is rock solid (like other Pelican cases). kzbin.infoUgkx3jMFPw9QX_Iu4DNcjW-t9AZ4_iNhJzhE I paired it with the Master Lock 140T set of padlocks. The US Airways ticket agent that checked the case was impressed by how completely the latches were secured. The case has layers of removable foam cubes that can be easily adapted to the contents of the case and keep everything secure. After declaring its contents to the ticket agent, I was allowed to put this case in other checked luggage. Due to its size and black color, this helped insure that it wasn't misplaced by a baggage handler. TSA was (apparently) happy with the packaging as well. If you plan on flying with more than one of the main items, I would recommend buying a larger Pelican case and just transport the case as another piece of checked luggage.

I agree with your choice of the Fort Knox, provided they solved the paint flaking issue that gummed up the Simplex lock. Three others that are based upon the Fort Knox design are the V-Line Brute, the Amsec PS1210HD and the Stealth STL-PB (part of and identical to Amsec, except for its finish). As far as the pistol safes with a holster, FAS’s FAS1 (7 Guage steel) is the best by a long shot, IMO. They use the same Simplex locking mechanism, but also has a robust, hardened steel 10-pin key lock, while almost all gun safes use cheap Chinese locks that take seconds to defeat. FAS1’s key lock stops the Simplex mechanism from being opened when placed in the “Out Position”, even if the correct combination has been entered (this is great when not at home).

So what secure gun safes are also quick access? I feel like the entire point is that it’s just enough of a deterrent to stop a random smash and grab thief or child from getting to your gun, not that it will be secure against a determined thief with enough time to pick locks or the ability to haul it with them. They are sacrificing security for accessibility in an emergency situation.

I had a very similar safe to the Fort Knox in your video. It had the same type of Simplex lock. After six months the Simplex lock failed and I couldn't open the safe. You say that the GunVault's SpeedVault can accommodate the Glock 17. Would know know whether that would work if the Pistol has the Trijicon RMR installed. These are more for keeping children out. To protect against thieves, you need something else as these units are usually magnets for thieving eyes. Big gun safes are one possibility as they are extremely heavy, but they also cost a lot of money, in fact they may cost more than your firearm. More reasonably is to use some sort of concealed enclosure where nobody would even guess something is being stored in there.

Very quick and safe even in the dark since my FAS1 safe that is bolted to my bed frame right next to my pillow automatically presents my holsters gun to me in the exact same place every time. Just a friendly reminder for some people might be new gun owners and don't know all the rules. I live in Maryland and if you have children under the age of 18 it is illegal to keep a loaded or unloaded firearm unsecured. A lot of states are doing the same thing now.

Raising your children the right way is all that’s needed. Treating children like guns are voodoo is the wrong way. Teaching them from a young age gun safety is the best gift you can give them. I was taught at a very young age gun safety how they operate and how to shoot safely. I passed this on to my child and he was never ever curious about firearms ie sneaking to mess with them etc. he’s now grown and owns carries his own. I’ve never witnessed anything but safe handling from him. We were taught there not toys but tools.
