Not really. They are doing their job. They aren't watching football. Their job is to play. To know what they are doing and play. Spending hours on the job, to know how to do the job. A construction worker working a crane takes memory to the point it becomes automatic.

For everyone feeling like it is too complicated and that it could be simplified just remember that only half of that is "important" or relevant to the WRs while the other half is the protection call so the OL needs to Focus there but the receivers and RBs usually only need to hear a certain percentage of the play call. This is why you'll often see guys walking out of the huddle before the quarterback says "break", WRs leaving the huddle so soon, OL and TEs aswell as FBs will usually always have to stick around and hear the entire call. Then of course you have shifts, audibles and options; depending on what the defense does pre-snap that could potentially change the entire play-call that you just huddled up and relayed so we'll sometimes see what the OC and QB came up with on the fly so it's complex ...love how Peyton can call plays in his sleep it just comes so natural to him... He'll always he a "play caller" well after he is done and no longer associated with football because it is moreso about organization and structure than football as he's a Solar Pisces ♓/♈ Aries cusp and always thinking with passion

I don't know Peytons score, but Eli scored a 38 out of 50 on his wonderlich... The average is is 19 - 20.... Brady had in the low 30s. Not sure about Peyton, but you can bet it was high 30s Nowadays it's all about athleticism and the RPO, but in those days it was about your brainpower

As complicated as this sounds, it is actually much simpler than the old method of naming each play and the player needed to memorize what each play call means. With the expanded play call, its all spelled out. A call back in the old West Coast Offense days might be "Red Right, Strong, Rip, 24 Double Square on one", and the QB and receivers all need to just memorize what their route is for that play.

I feel like it’s not too hard to remember because the play is breaking down a responsibility for each player. All you have to do is break the play down one by one until you understand the assignment for each player. That would make saying the play to them so much better because you know exactly what each player should be doing

Players remember their individual pieces of the play -- when Peyton says "Zebra" in there, for instance, that word might specifically be telling the #1 WR which route he's running.

Okayy, ive heard a ton of NFL plays that are just literally a ton of words smashed together!! I could be the best QB to have ever played the game. I could be a billion times better than Peyton or Brady but none of that would matter considering the fact that i would NEVER EVER EVER be able to memorize these plays!! But he literally can't just yell out 57 and then right in front of the defense so they can hear, begin telling receivers "okay! You run a drag! You go deep! You run an out route! They'll never see it coming! Break!!" There's a reason the huddle exists. The word salad is to keep things simple for those that need to understand it and make it sound like gibberish to some one who doesn't.

Don't matter, Peyton still has nine one and done in the playoffs and his Superbowl stats are not good, he was a great quarterback during the regular season, but come playoffs he wasn't which is when it matters most, this why he is the most overrated quarterback ever, this is why Tom Brady is head and shoulders above him because when it mattered most, Brady performed, when you played in ten Superbowls and won seven which is more than most NFL franchises it just screams that Brady is the G. There’s no point discrediting Peyton to make Brady look good. Brady is the greatest QB to do it. Peyton had a stellar career that 99.9% of QBs would kill for. 2 SBs, went to 4, SB MVP, 5 MVPs, retired career stat leader in almost every passing category. Could he have done better? With an actual run game and consistency with coaches in Indy/Denver, probably. But it isn’t like he had a mediocre career lol.

Brady benefitted significantly from Belichick's defenses and the greatest kicker of all time to keep him in the game. Peyton didn't have those luxuries for most of his career and when he did, he kicked the shit out of Brady in the playoffs and got his chip. That being said, Arod is statistically better than both at this point in his career and only has one chip because his defenses have been absolute dog water. It's always the Brady glazers that overlook the reality of there being 56 guys on the team and overlook other stats because it makes the reality of Brady getting carried to bowls he didn't really belong in apparent. Especially 36 and 38.
