There is nothing simple when it comes to this machine. I never tried to remove the oil tank only. There are two screws that have to be removed. The one on the oil tank, and there's a screw on the side below the hand wheel. This screw holds a clamp for one of the tubes. You remove those two screws the tank should pull out enough to where you can gain access to the back to pull off the tubes. Take you time on working with the oil tank. It's only plastic and breaks easily.

Thank you, I have been trying for years to find out what that cam was for. In another video, another mechanic told me about the bracket that pivots around the bobbin housing is where the knife blade was mounted, it make sense now that bracket was operated by that cam.

Hi Stephen, very informative video. I just bought exactly this same machine. It's in pretty good condition to be honest but as with yours the sump gasket plate sponge has deteriorated to mush. I've looked at replacements online but can't find any. You spoke of a magnet but if going down that route how do the cogs get lubed. Your help would be much appreciated🙏

I say exactly. It's a 463 but the gasket plate is not same shape as yours. Mine is just rectangular..

remove the back panel then go to 10:30 in the video. move the knee lifter, the cam with the 2 screws should also move. if it does remove the front cover then go to 20:10 in the video and insure both hooks capture that bar you see.

Hi, I have the same machine with the thread cutter, I wanted to ask you something, when I push the fabric back with the lever sometimes the thread breaks, what can it depend on?

@@gmcxm211 thanks for the answer, but why do you think that the problem when the fabric backs off the thread is broken is due to the fact that the thread cutter is present? excuse for my english
@gmcxm2112 жыл бұрын
take a video camera and try to find a way to mount it to where you can take a video where the bobbin is at. Then you might see what the thread cutter is doing. Or have someone sewing while you sit under the table and then you can watch it for yourself

@gmcxm2113 жыл бұрын
No puede, el Pfaff 563 no se desconecta del volante a la aguja, por lo que el volante gira y la aguja sube y baja. Ahora mi respuesta depende de si Google tradujo correctamente su pregunta.

Hi, I have pfaff 260. can you disassemble and reassemble, pfaff 260 in video? I have a problem the zigzag doesn't engage, It will sew straight and the cam mechanism has no problem. I think a spring is missing. I would appreciate if you can do that. Thanks.
@gmcxm2113 жыл бұрын
did you just buy this machine? If so it could makes a big difference, it could be more than just a missing spring.

@@gmcxm211 I bought it at craigslist los angeles
@gmcxm2113 жыл бұрын
@@evelynsia460 good news is if it can sew straight stitches it's properly timed. I don't have a 260, just a 360 and there some differences between the two. now if you select a decretive stitch and the middle knob/level moves in one direction only, while sewing try gently to move the knob/level back. If there is no resistance then yes you do have a spring missing. If there any resistance than it just needs to be cleaned. The only problem with these machines, the decretive stitching isn't all that "crisp" as it is with the electronic sewing machines. Since these are all cams and spring regulated the needle never returns to a true zero. There will always be a thread size gap or off a width of a needle in some places. We're talking Model "T" Fords here compared to our computer controlled cars of today.

Hallo, I have just found this machine and thinking to buy it. But the question raised: does it need an air compressor? The seller says it does. Can you answer me please:) Thank you.
@gmcxm2113 жыл бұрын
it probably does if it has a thread cutter or any other special operation. Now, for it just to sew, no it doesn't need air for that. but if it does have those features you can get an air compressor pretty cheap at harbor freight. Besides once you have an air co presser you'd be surprised how handy these things are

Hello. The plastic gear must not be replaced with a metal one ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZfMYZSBgbWEfJY ). If the hook of the sewing machine gets stuck, then the plastic gear is a safeguard against the big problem. The gear will break and not cause much damage to the sewing machine. This gear is located just after the main shaft and transfers rotation to the hook of the sewing machine. Therefore, you cannot install a metal gear.
@gmcxm2113 жыл бұрын
So, this was design to be a “safety fuse” and not just to make the machine run quieter? I can see that. Has there ever been a situation where the hook jammed to where it stripped out the teeth of the nylon gear? I was sewing along and the thread got tangled up in the hook. The belt slipped on the hand wheel. Now I wasn’t using a clutch motor also my belt tension isn’t all that tight because I don’t want to wear out the bearings
@davecoldman94843 жыл бұрын
@@gmcxm211 A side function of the plastic gear is a little less noise. But it is plastic because it is a fuse. There is no problem to put a metal one, and the adjacent gear is just that. Repairing with a metal gear when the shuttle is jammed can be expensive. The hook of the sewing machine may break. The motor may be damaged unless the overcurrent protection is activated. In addition, the small gear may be damaged from fragments. The timing belt may break. There can be many problems. If the plastic gear breaks, the shaft continues to turn and the shuttle does not turn. Therefore, there is no major damage. You are a good mechanic! A lot of work has been done.
