I tested positive for Covid on Wednesday, got a prescription from my Dr on a tele-health call the same day. Couldn't get help getting the prescription (due to a death in the family). Finally got the prescription on Friday. Within 1 hour my fairly persistent cough, pounding headache, nasal mucous disappeared. I'm in day two of my treatment and I am so comfortable. I coughed once today! In my opinion, this medication is completely effective. I would recommend it for anyone. I am a 72 year old male.

I’m so thankful to have a clear, concise, non - political description of a really important intervention in our collective battle with Covid-19. Thanks doc! (PS I started taking Paxlovid yesterday and I’m on my third dose - still feel pretty crappy but my doc explained safety, not symptom relief, is the main reason for taking it. Also, my tongue tastes like I licked a light pole covered in dog feces.)

As a nurse I was hoping for a concise explanation of how Paxlovid works, How effective it is, what the usual dosage is, and the prevalence of adverse effects. You explained all that very well. Now all I need is a list of the most common and the most serious side effects experienced. My guess is liver damage due to the use of Ritonovir.

Paxlovid works. I tested positive via AntiGen Monday morning. I was unable to connect with my PCP to have her prescribe Paxlovid. Good thing there’s virtual doctors that was able to prescribe me Paxlovid. I took the first dose last night and another dose this morning. Its 2pm and I feel great! I will still keep on taking paxlovid for the next 4 days.

Hi. I couldn’t finish it. I took only half the first two packs did excellent work. Open my throat immediately, but the side effects are terrible, super dry mouth, no saliva, my tongue were completely dead, even the water didn’t wet it. So my dr call me on the 3rd day an I explain her how I was fealing she told me take one more package today and leave it. So i don’t know how I did it, but I quit it after that one. My throat stay swollen and I had cough for one more week after I quit it, my dr send me to ENT dr, he prescribed me anti inflammatory drug and a gargle liquid. After 3 days taking it I’m finally fealing 90 percent better. This virus is made in hell.

On day 4 of paxlovid. Within 24 hours I was feeling WAY better. Covid made me more fatigued than anything I've felt in my life. After only a day, was feeling normal. Insane. The taste is horrible though to be honest lol. 24 hours a day for 5 days you will basically taste old bitter stale coffee and metal. But no big deal, just annoying. Tastes like a vitamin on your tongue. Paxlovid is unbelievable

An otherwise healthy, 89 y.o. unvaccinated family member of mine is currently taking Paxlovid and felt better after 1 dose. He has taken 3 doses and his oxygen sats went up 2%. He feels less winded and less achy. No side effects except a bad taste in his mouth. He started on day 6 of illness. And he only paid $8 for the RX with Medicare. Prior to getting infected he was on vitamin C, D, zinc, and quercetin.

I only got through 2 doses before I had the worst diarrea of my life. Food and liquid went through me like a seive. I finally had to take imodium to stop it. Same thing happened to my wife. So far the side effects have been worse than the virus. I'm on day 5 after testing positive and am feeling much better just letting the sickness take it's course.

My wife and I both have Covid, and are starting our 5th day on Paxlovid. We started it on day 3 and day 4 from start of symptoms respectively. Within 24 hours, we definitely started feeling better. The worst symptom is the horrible taste in your mouth, and it appears to be far more prevalent than indicated in the published literature. We also both found it has made us very sleepy and drowsy.

I tested positive last Friday evening and also started Paxlovid the evening of day 3 (Monday) after my dr prescribed. Thankfully for me by then my symptoms had near fully subsided, Sunday being the absolute worst with a severe sore throat and terrible congestion headache. I’d recommend researching “Paxlovid rebound” as there’ve been a small amount of people for whom symptoms are simply delayed by taking the drug, only to return a short time later.

Could you please discuss rebound infections after a course of Paxlovid? My friend tested positive, took Paxlovid, tested negative by the last day of the 5 day course. Then all symptoms abated for a few days. He started coughing again and he is testing positive today. I looked it up and this is happening to a significant number of people. It seems like it may be higher than the 1-2% that Pfizer is claiming. My friend is high risk due to age 60, diabetes and heart disease. He has had 2 Pfizer vaccines and a Moderna booster.

Ritonavir is an old HIV medication, correct? Would have appreciated a quick historical summary of that med since there is certainly data available. Also, reducing trial participation to only 1200 ppl across 5 counties, half of whom get placebp, means a few dozen ppl received the trial medication in each site. Seems very small for a drug trial of this importance.

Something to think about: In Washington State, (where my brother lives) When his family tested positive 1/3/2022 they were all given a bag of vitamins, instructions, and details how to treat themselves, where in Cleveland Ohio you are given nothing, u have no idea how to treat yourself or y family. Very very confusing, it's not fair alot of us have no direction, and every doctor has a different opinion.

These pills and vaccines should go through the rigorous process of testing and more testing. Then they should be transparent about their findings. Instead you have pfizer saying they won't release any documentation for 75 years and if you die, you can't sue. If I were you, I'd wait 15 years before taking any of these treatments.

A new study published on the preprint server bioRxiv assesses the antiviral activity of stenoparib against four severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants of concern (VOCs). This study also focuses on the inhibition of the SARS-CoV-2 Alpha variant by a combination of stenoparib and remdesivir. The researchers of the current study also evaluated the inhibitory action of a combination of stenoparib and remdesivir against the Alpha variant. When combined, the drugs acted synergistically and plaque inhibition increased to over 90%.
