I have the 9.12.2001 edition of The Frank Skinner Show. Monkey isn't seen in the programme, but a clip from the ITV Digital ads is shown, and Johnny Vegas talks about the recognition he gets from the adverts, all-the-more whilst Frank Skinner holds up a Monkey doll. To my knowledge, copies of the Watch with Monkey pilot exist in the BBC archives, but have not been digitally transferred and made available in its viewable online archive services.

It's great that Monkey all the way back then was viewed as a celebrity and not just a character. Really gives him the sense of being real which we all saw him as during the PG Tips ads back in the day. And admittedly does make his disappearance hit far harder.

Wow, who knew there were this many Monkey cameos out there waiting to be rediscovered! When I also spoke to Nigel about the Watch with Monkey pilot a couple of years ago, he informed me that he still had the script and was planning on selling it on eBay soon. I haven't heard from him since and have checked eBay every so often to no joy, but the fact that he has it and might still get around to selling it at some point is something at least. Also, I have access to the Box of Broadcasts service and had a look on there for any of the appearances we're missing but also, sadly, to no success.

I absolutely adore your Monkey videos, they always make me full of nostalgia, and I had no idea these appearances until you made this video! My nan actually has a lot of old tapes from late 2001-2003 in her possession which she doesn’t use anymore, next time I see her I’ll have to ask if I can search through them to see if there’s anything interesting on them. Keep up the fantastic work :)

I like to think that monkey will make a return with a new brand, but just like how the PG tips ads declined drastically in quality after Tony Vegas' departure I feel like he would NEED to be on board before the nation's favourite mascot can make a return.

I emailed CR about PG tips, monkey and all that mumbo jumbo. They said they stopped licensing monkey to PG tips and still own him. they are not planning to feature monkey in upcoming events. The person who sent the email passed it on to the merch and Partnership Teams, So we could see him in the future. Hopefully my pokie bear can come back tho!!!! edit: it was PG tips that didn't want to licence him anymore, not CR!!
