Thanks for the kind words Sam. I'm trying to think of ways to reinvent the channel since I've already covered so much and don't want to be repetitive. And on a personal note... After my divorce, my free time has been consumed with work and home improvement projects for my new house. Not complaining.... I'm a fortunate guy for sure. But that's the "reason" between you and me. (And anyone else that reads this!) Regardless, thank you and I really appreciate the support. Clear skies my friend.

Frederick Hagan I’m sorry to hear of that, keep your head up. I got a friend going through that right now as well, not an easy trial. Trying to keep a KZbin channel unique is a difficult challenge. I would love some insight from the setting differences from photos / videos. But that’s just me, no need to make a whole video for that single purpose. PS: the tiffen filters were too bulky, DJI filters seem to be the best in my opinion

@FrederickHagan7 жыл бұрын
atomterrible unfortunately this is a side effect of a camera lens system that isn't exactly "top-of-the-line." I'm not a fan of the massive star shaped lens flare that the phantom 4 pro has but it is what it is. ;)

I had the same problem with glass popping out of my original UV filter. I contacted DJI, sent them a picture of it and within a few days they shipped me out a new one. Tiffen is a great company, I have a been using there products since the mid 80's, but even though DJI's filters are made cheaply (it's like there is nothing more than a thin layer of plumbers putty holding in the glass), strangely their ND filter glass really produces a crystal clear image with not color shift. The other nice thing about them is that they can stay on when you reinstall the lens cap/gimbal lock. Not to mention, they match the camera color nicely and are perfectly balanced on the gimbal, but Fred, what was that glue you said you used on your? Maybe I should add some just to prevent mine from falling out again. 😉
@FrederickHagan7 жыл бұрын
Bobster986 I used tiny dab of super glue gel. That said I wouldn't recommend it.... the chemical in the superglue discoloration the areas on the glass around the gel! Kind of left that oil on water rainbow effect of the lens.

Just carve the round front part of your stock gimble guard off with a Dremel Tool. And your done. Your ND doesn't need that front piece while it's sitting in a case or even outside a case tbo.

Hi Frederick, awhile back you were very passionate of the Sandmarc line of filters. How do Tiffen and Sandmarc filter compare to each other?
@FrederickHagan7 жыл бұрын
Arizona Aerial Productions thanks for the comment. The Sandmarc filters work fine BUT in my humble opinion...you can’t beat the optics of Tiffen glass.
@billteter1427 жыл бұрын
Do they plan to make an ND4? Reason I ask is that it seems like the latest firmware update from DJI has desensitized the sensor at least for some color profiles. I like to shoot in D-Cinelike at 1/120, FHD @60fps, and ISO 100 and aperture around 5.0-5.6 with an DJI ND8. Since the last update I've had to open the shutter all the way to 2.8 and increase ISO to 200 just to get to -.3. I haven't checked other profiles. Has anyone else noticed this?
@williamconnell65417 жыл бұрын
Also,please excuse my ignorance, but have you done a video processing from start to finish? i mean i am very new to drones but familiar with lightroom and photoshop.So when i remove my SD card and put it in my reader will the above systems recognise DGI products?

William Connell yes the camera shoots and jpg or raw (which is the same format is in the other camera) so you shouldn't have any problems.
@daveeverett93417 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and great to see you back again, Fred! Being a 50 year veteran still photographer it's super to see that Tiffen is now producing UAV camera filters. I'm currently using PolarPro on my P4P and Mavic, as well as Typhoon H. What still astounds me is why even Tiffen is including a polarizer! By what means can we adjust these in the air to fine tune for each direction of flight? ...and if we don't like the results, then good luck removing in post. I'd much rather they sell a full set of ND4-16....
@FrederickHagan7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Dave. These are great questions. Because of the very nature of HOW a polarizing filter works I rarely use one. I can get the look I want in post so I really don't mess with them much.
@TiffenCompany7 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, thanks for your comments! We included the Polarizer in the set mainly for photographers and cinematographers looking to take advantage of everything a polarizer offers. This will dramatically help with reducing glare off water or metallic surfaces (something you can't do in post production editing).
@Ashkyousefi7 жыл бұрын

Fredrerick.....I just ordered a set of these Tiffen filters mentioned in your video, the ND 4, 8 And 16 + PL for the phantom 4 ....quick question, I have the P4P...will they fit the P4P? Iam thinking I read somewhere the threads between the P4 and P4P may differ...thanks and thanks for all your videos. @BrianKushner7 жыл бұрын
Just bought these filters and I'm a bit concerned about the weight. When using they are causing tilted horizon that I don't have without the filter. They are heavier then Polar Pro which are metal and that puzzles me.
@FrederickHagan7 жыл бұрын
Brian Kushner thanks for the comment, Brian. Try doing a gimbal calibration after installing the filter. I have no issues with mine but I also do this calibration before each new day of flights.
@BrianKushner7 жыл бұрын
Frederick Hagan will do Frederick. Love the filters.
@Theeslickness6 жыл бұрын
I know you addressed the weight concern, however I still think its a bit necessary to add a counterweight. I've built 3-axis gimbals, and it is critical to have good balance to allow the motor to handle wind and extreme vibration. So I think the solution is to use some Dual Lock (like velcro on steroids), and add a 2-3gram lead weight. It can be easily removed and even repositioned. I'm going to buy the Tiffen filters, and try to counterweight it.

Do you find these filters better than the Sandmarc ND filters you reviewed? Could you do a review on the tiffen vrs the sandmarc? Do you see any difference in the vignetting or color shift differences? They are close to the same price but it sounds like the tiffen's might be a bit lighter. Thanks for all your videos you post.
@FrederickHagan7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Brad. "Better" is always subjective...obviously. Certainly not try to dodge the question but it's true. I will say this - The glass that Tiffen uses is the key IMHO. It's all about the glass. There's zero color shift. There's no vignette. Also the coatings help reduce unwanted glare and refraction. Another tell-tale sign of good glass is if they are easy to clean. Tiffen's wipe clean quick as if brand new. "Cheaper" filter glass is always a dead giveaway because it seems to take forever to wipe them down and get them perfectly clean again. I've used Tiffen and SRP products for years and I will continue to do so with their line of aerial filters. The quality is there. The price is reasonable. Hope this helps.
@bradcarr13647 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Frederick! I thought I noticed some vignetting in the vid. Did you add some to the post? I've used tiffen for dslr photography in the past. I would agree they are a good product & company. Thanks for your input I'll have to take a closer look at the vids. Nice on the quick reply too! Cheers!
@FrederickHagan7 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely. I like to use a vignette from time to time in post color grading to pull focus to the center frame. So yeah that's me... not the filter.

Thanks! Agreed always helps to focus. I looked back and the Tiffen do seem to be sharper watching the vids in HD.

@francisgarcia34527 жыл бұрын
how do you compare this with polar pro cinema series ND filters?
@FrederickHagan7 жыл бұрын
Francis Garcia honestly Francis there is no comparison. The glass, coatings and optical quality is far superior IMHO. Because of the coatings the glass is much easier to clean and stays clean. There's much less unwanted light ghosting & refraction when turning into different angles to the sun. Color rendition is true neutral… Meaning no strange slight shift to the greens or reds. The polar pro line of filters is a good line of filters and they work fine. But they are a beginner level filter. And to be honest I really feel that polar pro never really changed the physical make up of the filters from their already established P3 Pro line… They just gave them a new look and renamed them "cinema series". It's all about perception I guess?

I completely agree polarpro is nothing but a way to fool buyers with high end words , Specially polarpro making filter with fancy color rings itself proves they do not know anything about filter as black is the best color for filter because it absorb the rays & color filter rings will reflect the ray's.

Sam Carmel no as I said in the video these filters have the best optics of any filter I've used to date on my phantom 4 pro. That pretty much says it all for me. Plus with the ring made of Delrin you don't get that metal on metal scraping taking the filters on and off! Nice.
