I love these old ghost stories. I'm 79 years old and grew up listening to tales of boogers and haints, and haunted houses, and experiencing a few, myself. But this story and similar ones occur in numerous places. In fact, I remember a song, "Bringing Mary Home" that was recorded by the Country Gentlemen in 1965. I liked it then and I still like it (I used to sing it in the band I once had). Anyway, it starts out "I was driving down a lonely road, on a dark and stormy night; when a little girl, by the roadside showed up in my headlight..." and ends with the sad mother saying "...your the 13th one to be here, bringing Mary home." The story line is similar to so many other stories about ghostly hitch hikers. Must be some truth to them. Anyway, I sure enjoy your stories. Keep them coming!

Hi Jimmy! Yep, this is one of many similar stories that I've heard too. They've honestly been going on since well before cars were invented, to be honest and men, as well as women, have been the subjects of such tales. Sad thing is, I believe most of them to be true! I often wonder what would happen if the parents would come out to the vehicle just once and tell her, even if they can't see her, that she is home now, so she can rest! Were it me, I would then pray that the Lord takes her into his heavenly arms and not let her suffer any more. I honestly believe that she would either be at peace or would go away quickly if her intent was to do harm! so many restless spirits are just trying to figure out where they should be! Who's to say we shouldn't help them? Y'all take care now! May God bless you and yours. 😊

We’ve even got one in our town once heard of it but I haven’t known of a single person who’s actually had an encounter. I feel a little weird telling the story the family is still around and the girl was murdered so I haven’t touched that one

I kind of remember something very similar being a story on that TV show Unsolved Mysteries. Anyone else? I remember them recreating the story and the mother being out in front of the house being upset that someone would pull sure a mean prank.
