Pretty impressive pictures. Having served as a soldier in Wittmund in 1983/84 i have spent so much time alongside the runways, waiting for the F-4F starting and returning, collecting the brake parashoots in a VW vanagon or delivering food all over the airport plus the "Alarmrotte" area where everything was ready to take off in less than 10 minutes. The smell in those vanagons was "Kerosine pure". Some pictures also remind me to my childhood not far from Wittmund in the 70ies, when the F-4F was all of a sudden coming out of nowhere at low altitude with an incredible noise. As boys in the playground we were thrilled by the look and sound. Jetnoise the sound of freedom ;-)(unfortunately nowadays more than ever ) I remember the F-4F as an unforgettable multimedia event, it shook the earth when i was standing 100 mtr behind it before the pilot released the brakes. unbelievable

Das war ein unbeschreiblich schöner Abschied der Phantom, auch wenn Wehmut aufkam, so dürfen wir nicht vergessen das die Entwicklung von 1958 war und sie ihre Rente sehr wohl verdient hat. Trotzdem bekam ich Gänsehaut als die vier Maschinen letztmalig an mir vorbeirollten. Phabolous Phantom Phorever......
