@madra1997 Depends on your jazz run technique. In 2007 Phantom Regiment did demi-plie jazz run, the style where there is knee bend. However, in 2008 Regiment switched to straight leg jazz run. There is a very tiny amount of knee bend but not much. Shouldn't be much pop up in this style

@ milroxsox, LOTS of practice. just do the technique right when you march and it'll be easier. You want to have a strong mid section to stabilize your upper body and separate it from the movement which occurs in your lower body. you want to make it feel and look smooth, and 'glide' across the ground to take out the bounce.

2 styles of jazz run. Demi-plie (big knee bend) is generally considered easier to learn at the cost of a good visual look (and the pop up also detracts) while straight leg is considerably harder (especially music wise), but looks a lot better.

@31solid88 Try to cover the ground they are covering without the bend they have and you will hear every step they take in the horns. Guards can jazz run upright but horns can't. The farther and faster you try to go, the lower you have to get to maintain tone. You don't have to have marched with a corps to know this. All you have to do is try it once on your own. So... Can we dispence with the Drum Corps snobbery already?
