Brilliant movie, beautifully drawn and animated. I wish this sort of animation would make a come back instead of the constant CGI stuff on offer.

Especially at the end of its scene. Those sound effects they use to accompany the Black Rabbit are like they were designed to press some of your most primal "OH NOES PREDATOR-LIKE EMBODIMENT OF DEATH AT 12 O' CLOCK!" buttons that were first installed into evolutionary ancestors that were small...and delicious.

Not far from the mark there, only the He-Man reference seems redundant. The point I'm making is that we don't learn important lessons only from things that are pleasant, but also (and more importantly) from things that are frightening/hurtful. You didn't like it? Fair enough, but do you think it informed your choices in a negative way as regards violence in your life?

Does it have animal experiments and a cat who hangs around in a tomb filled with cat skulls? If so you are probably thinking of felidae, which is originally in german and can be purchased from amazon germany, there's the english dub and the original german without subs, but it's something.

I believe that the way this film effects people depends on their up bringing. For example, I live in a rural area of norfolk and see wild rabbits every day. Myself and alll those that live in the same area as me were not affected by the violence in the film yet those who live six miles away in a town were. I think we who live in the country and see what wildlife can be like know what to expect whereas those who wern't taught about it can only assume they're all friendly fluffy bunnies in cages.

I've always enjoyed movies like these. As sad and violent as they are, it's the honest truth. This is how it is for rabbits in the wild. To me, it's like a homage to the animals who have to endure this on a daily basis.

Do you think that your perspective on violence is inappropriate? Are you badly adjusted to life with others? Do you think that this may have been a contributing factor? As an adult who may, or may not wish to bring up a child these are important questions to answer. If you think that you were traumatised by this film and have been damaged by it then you have reason to be concerned. If not... pretty simple answer; you were not.
@Pooknottin
@Pooknottin 15 жыл бұрын
To learn about certain things later in life can be a damaging shock for some, especially if they were sheltered from a good deal in thier childhood. On the other hand a gratuitous, or extreme depiction of violence could be equally damaging. I'm with the censors on this one, though I'm willing to concede that it was probably partially down to a degree of ignorance on their part in that the film is animated (they thought it must be for children).

Fear can be an important learning experience. Why do you think most children's stories have frightening elements? Besides, this isn't just a children's film.
@fieldmarshalhough
@fieldmarshalhough 15 жыл бұрын
Redundant indeed, that's why I questioned it... I'm sure we do learn lessons from frightening things, but that's not my point. What I said was that I wouldn't have classified this film as a U, because I believe it's too violent for that. I have a perfectly clear understanding of violence without having watched a lot of it when I was very young. I mean, I'm in the army. You do learn about these things elsewhere.

I think my perspective on violence is much the same as anybody elses, and no, I am not at all "badly adjusted to life with others". I merely remarked in my original post that I "swear this film scarred me for life" - meant to be taken very much tongue-in-cheek - because when I watched this at around the age of 3 I found the scenes of rabbits' throats being ripped out rather gruesome. Simple as that. I was not being particularly serious, and didn't anticipate my comment being taken thus.

@Maksimfan In short, some are more sheltered than others and see the world through glass panes than true nature. And they say us "country folk" don't know anything about "Life". Wildlife IS life and death, ... balance.
