I have seen several KZbin reviewers in tears at the end of "Call Me Back." She really projects the pain the singer is feeling.

Hi Paul. Always a cool Courtney reactions. Thanks for doing this. I never cease to be amazed at what Courtney can do. A voice that can rock a stage one minute and then come back and rip your heart out with the rawness and intensity that she puts into a gritty ballad like this. Unmatched vocal power, control and versatility. Music is always a sensory experience, but when Courtney sings, it's as much of a visual experience as it is an audio one. It's like a wave of feeling and emotion that washes over you. I don't know of any other artiest that can create that kind of effect in her listeners, like Courtney can. Also, and I experienced this first hand when I saw her live at Carnegie Hall. Courtney is the greatest artist and vocalist I've ever heard, but when she's singing live, she somehow manages to take that greatness up another couple of levels. No one else like her in music, and it's always a privilege, and pure joy, to be able to see and hear her perform. As a heads up, Courtney had previously released this song, and the official video is on her KZbin channel. The live version was new. As we get closer to Courtney's album drop, she is making plans to begin touring, and one of those things she is working on is putting together her band. So, two of the new members of her band are introduced in this video. She also said that they didn't want to release the album or any of the pre-album singles during the holidays, when everyone is focused on other things, which makes perfect sense. So, the initial single from her album will drop very early next year. She has said plenty of new content will be coming in the meantime. This 'Call Me Back' live was the first piece of that additional material, and she also dropped a short update video about her album. Next up is a live version of her original, 'Jagged', which will drop next Monday, November 18. Hearing and seeing Courtney perform a banger like 'Jagged' live will be mind blowing. It will be on her KZbin channel. So, she is going to keep us busy over the holidays. No better Christmas present than a new Courtney tune.

I like the song, and I agree with all of what you said. I will definitely look for some other things by her. I hadn't heard her before. The song and the whole setup, actually, remind me of the 60s & 70s folk songs and singers (like Bob Dylan, Jim Croce, John Denver, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, June Carter, Linda Ronstadt, etc.) That was when I had my own little folk band, and we did a LOT of covers of the music written and sung by all of them, and more. Thanks for the great reaction! 😀

She has such an old Rock soul! I have reacted to several of her performances including Americas Got Talent!

This is a fantastic song, and you'll be happy to know that there is already an official video for it, along with a lyric video. They both came out last year. And, by the way, there are several other interpretations for the song. It could be about someone keeping a message from someone who has passed on, or someone in an argument with someone trying to get them to call back. She could be the ghost, trying to contact the living. Someone could be out of the area without roaming service. Someone could be imprisoned, kidnapped or something similar... plus so many other possibilities.

Paul, here's what's up with Courtney at present: You probably are aware she will soon release an album of new songs. She had planned to put out a couple of singles from it about now, but in talking it over with her people (probably mostly her producer/cowriter Kevin Bowe), she recognized that a lot of artists are about to deluge the market over the next few weeks with Christmas songs. She didn't want her new songs to be caught in the middle of that, so she pushed back the singles, and album, a month or two -- the singles will probably be out in January. IN THE MEANTIME, she is making a gift to her fans of some new live studio recordings of previous songs, such as "Call Me Back," here. The next one of those coming up is a live performance of "Jagged," to be released Monday, Nov. 18. After the album comes out at last, she is going on an international tour.

I haven't listened to this through headphones. So before I say yeah or nah to what you felt, I'll have to check. Although through a decent sound system turned up I love the piano. The acoustics of those chords she's playing really ring out with power. I can see what you say about over shadowing Courtney early on, but that's what they may have liked. Courtney's dynamics are so subtle and also intense depending on where she is in a song. She seems to always build a song up to a climatic end and sometimes like she did here, a very quiet end quickly. She's got that mastered. Have to listen to this with good headphones now.

Oh for sure! She is amazing in either way!

Great reaction. I agree with you, the piano was too loud and the guitar left more to be desired. This was an old song she released a couple of years ago. The musicians are her band and they are rehearsing together. She will release another one on Monday "JAGGED" which will also be Live at the same place. Neither of these two songs will be on her Album that she releases next year. A single from the Album will be released at the start of the year.

Thank you for that honest reaction, everything you said is what I heard too. The only difference with how I react to it is I'm so insanely happy to see and hear Courtney Hadwin singing with a live band it's just the little imperfections that make it better than being perfect, but that's just me😃 Great reaction, thank you again!
