As a retired pharmacist, this should be interesting. In retail, I used a small pocket knife and a blunt edge stainless spatula constantly to cut seals, remove cotton wadding, etc. The best pharmacy spatulas were supplied by Abbott Labs. Nobody else even came close.

Some lovely pieces, but I really like that Parker! I’m always a sucker for M.O.P.. It’s funny but I knew what the Russell spatula was the minute you open the blade. I do like relief knives, but I think I’ve only got two in my whole collection, I enjoyed the video as always

A lot of the pharmacies in the 70's were still compound pharmacies where they would make custom meds from your Doctors orders. I remember those Tums spatulas Thanks Tobias good video

Now even hospitals contract out to special companies that do the compounding. Thinks have definitely changed.

Thanks. I'm sad to tell you that the kitty passed away almost two years ago however many subscribers of the channel wanted me to keep her as part of the channel. She was an integral part of the channel early on.

Adep most likely refers to the lanolin that was found in the product. Adeps lanae is lanolin derived from wool fat. Thyol is a sulfur derivative. So, what we have is sulfur in a lanolin carrier.

Thanks for the info. Sulpher was a common ingredient in numerous salves. Very big among the quack doctors and snake oil salesmen. But also proven effective in many remedies!

Very vice collection of what were physicians knives now known as pharmacists knives. As late as the 70's-80's some pharmaceutical companies gave away small folders with the pharmacists blade on them to any and all pharmacists, doctors, other personnel that had possible decision making abilities when it came to the drugs they recommended or carried or when they introduced the newest "miracle" drug. Pharmaceutical companies such as Syntex, Mallinkrodt, Abbott, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, and Merrell-Richardson all had the latest best drug names plastered on the knife to remind Doctors & Pharmacists they should recommend their products to the next sick person needing such. Em were the days.

Hey Tobias, are you aware of any 58mm Victorinox knife marketed to phisicians/pharmacists which actually feature the spatula/cuticle pusher? All such knives I have seen feature either the emergency blade and/or the orange peeler/pill bottle opener... And I have only seen the spatula/orange peeler on thicker 58mm Victorinox knives or on bladeless manicure ones.

I have only heard rumors of them. I've been looking for a long time and have yet to see one. Even the emergency blade tends to be a rarity. Most have been like the one I showed in this video.
