I keep rewatching some of these videos. I just can't get over how careful coop is around those running birds. Amazing dog work

Eastern MT was also this dry. We found most of our birds in good cover close to water. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Kevin, not a lot of birds killed in this one, but sometimes that’s what hunting public is all about.

Great video, in the first clip I know it looks lean but that's what sharptail like.

Yeah the problem is there was no shot at getting in range of the spooky birds there, that’s probably why they like it 😂.

Nice hunt! You guys work hard for those birds.

Another great video! I believe there are some emergency provisions for grazing registered grasslands in a drought, so that could be a potential reason for that area being flattened.

I watched all 3 of your SD videos and enjoyed them. I am a lifetime resident of SD and have hunted wild pheasants here for 60 consecutive years throughout the entire state. I live in the western half and hunt in areas very similar to where you were hunting in this video. However, I'm curious as to why you choose the western part of SD to hunt, because eastern SD is where you'll find the largest concentration of pheasants. That being said the western half has pockets which are good and the hunting pressure is dramatically less, but if you are hunting in the late season the hunting pressure in the eastern half is minimal. I normally hunt in western SD until December and then make several trips east, and don't see very many hunters particularly during the week. Sharpies are a challenge to hunt and they get very spooky in late season after they group up irregardless of the hunting pressure. You did a good job on the video and your dog did an excellent job of hunting, pointing and retrieving (I also have a brittany). I need to get a collar like you have so that I can locate my dog in thick cover especially when he's on point. I've made my request to Santa. Guess I'll have to see what shows up under the tree on the 25th. Merry Christmas.

Hey Russell! I’m glad you liked the videos. I don’t want to be too specific, but every hunt but the last was in and around central SD. That being said, the last hunt was the best. This was our first time over so I was largely just following the lead of my buddy Mike since he had experience there.

@@NorthwestWingshooters I noticed you use the Dogtra e collar. Does your cellphone stay on all the time when you're using it or do you have to turn it on each time you want to communicate with your dog? Do you have the Dogtra Mini or the regular size one?

@@russellandrews3019 The phone is on all the time, but there is a screensaver setting you turn on in the app so that when your phone is in your pocket, the screen will go dark. I have never had any issues with the app draining my phone and I can hunt all day long with no issues. Plus, now that I have it linked to my apple watch, there is no need to even take the phone from my pocket. I use the Dogtra Pathfinder SE full size.

@@NorthwestWingshooters as you know the western Washington release sites are all non-toxic shot. The pattern and penetration allows me to effectively harvest pheasant cleanly at ranges I would not use steel for fear I would leave cripples that eluded the dogs.

Yeah, the amount of overgrazing that is allowed in South Dakota is atrocious.
