Here is my hair washing cycle & tips how to avoid dandruff with oilve oil. For my 62 month hair update I will show you how I only wash my hair less than once a week. In hair care for really long hair, it makes sense to extend the days between washing.

first off your hair is amazing! since i have unnatural color hair i wash it once a week and use conditioner and use coconut oil mask over night when I'm getting ready to touch up my roots. My hair was as long as yours a few years back but I cut it all off for my hip replacement surgery right now even though i bleach it, it's grown back down to my mid back and I'm working on growing it as long as my moms hair use to be when I was a kid (down to her knees)

I agree, day 2-4, my hair is so silky and the color is perfect. I had hair to my hips, then cut it short, it's now halfway down my back. My hair is strawberry blonde (with green eyes 😉) so the color changes so! It is natural. I have long natural curls, then it goes straight after a day. I've never been a fan of blow drying my hair, so I think that is what keeps my hair nice, and I don't use a lot of hair products.

I have dry scalp, so I wash my hair every 2-3 days, because it starts itching and flaking. Then after I wash it I use a tea tree scalp conditioner. For a while I thought I had dandruff and used dandruff shampoo. But my stylist said it's not dandruff but dry scalp, and using anti-dandruff shampoo made my dry scalp worse. BTW, you have absolutely beautiful hair. :)
@pheloki
@pheloki 7 жыл бұрын
First of all, thank you! :) For dandruff this works for me, it may also work for dry skalp: Put oil on the scalp before the wash. After the wash, rinse hair and scalp with cider vinegar diluted in a litre of cold water. I heard tea tree oil is a very good oil.

This may sound absolutely out of place, but have you looked into using CBD topically for your scalp? It's the medicinal, non-psychoactive, and legal part of the cannabis and hemp plants. Topically, it works wonders for psoriasis.

Are you brushing your natural oil down to the length of the hair? Or, are you adding oil to your ends the night before you wash? It's very important that the ends get some kind of oiling.I'm about 33mths of growth. Shampoo about once every 7-8 days, after I oil my hair for a day or so and keep it braided. Between shampoos, I use really good conditioner to "clean" my hair. It doesn't strip as much of the oils, as I'm hoping to decrease my overall oil production, so I can get more time in between washing.
@pheloki
@pheloki 7 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I brush my oil down to the lengths, maybe once a week. I will do it a bit more often, now that you've reminded me :) Yes, I'm using coconut oil in the ends twice a day. "ends" = lower quarter of my hair. Wow, you extended your washes. Are you using a dry shampoo? That can help as well.
@shiningdawn8578
@shiningdawn8578 7 жыл бұрын
pheloki Great! I'm working on extending my washes. Used dry shampoo when my hair was shorter, but hate it now. I don't like the texture it adds. It threatens greater breakage due to the "grip". Between shampoos, I use conditioner as if it were shampoo. It's got to be certain types though, which is trial & error. Conditioner does a good job and rinsing away excess debris/oil without stripping. Been playing with a shampoo bar when it's time to shampoo. Not sure how much I like it yet, but will stick with it for a while. In the meantime, I'm just working on getting my oil production down. So, I have a day w/ my hair down, then several with it done up with a hair stick or in a braid.

You should try pulling the oil from your scalp down to your ends instead of washing it off. It looks like your ends stay dry, even at the end of your wash cycle. I bet you could get your scalp just as grease free if you got it evenly distributed along your ends!

How often should a man or woman with long hair wash their hair? I'm currently growing out my hair, it's at about 4-5 inches long on top and well it's still in progress on the sides. A female cousin of mine says she showers everyday, is it a good or bad things to wash hair everyday? My hair also gets greasy somewhat easily, is there something I can do? I've hear of dry shampoo but I haven't tried that yet.
@pheloki
@pheloki 7 жыл бұрын
I think it depends, but generally speaking: less frequent washes are better for the hair because the washes take away the natural oils, which are the best care and protection that your hair can get, so less is more. And I noticed for me, that I can adjust to fewer washes, i. e. my scalp gets oily less quickly if i extend the time between washes. However, I heard that some people can't, so it really depends on the person (genetics, food, lifestyle, ect.). Re. washing every day: If she has no damaged ends and she wants to maintain the length, then that's totally fine. If she has damaged ends or she wants to grow her hair really long, she may consider washing every second day and slowly extend the time between washes. If you wash your hair every day, you kind of train your scalp to reproduce oil quickly. So same for you, you can try washing less frequently and see if your oil production adjustst. For less greasy hair you may also want to google the terms "food greasy hair". - I know that one is a bit personal, when it comes to food. "I need my sugar!!!" :D

I'm trying to grow my hair, I'm about 8 months in now and I can't go a day without washing my hair, it gets oily very easily, is washing everyday bad for my hair?
@pheloki
@pheloki 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Haleigh, first of all, congrats for your 8 months! That is nearly one year. As far as I know, every wash is a bit bad for your hair because it takes away the natural oil from your scalp. When I had short hair, I used to wash it every day too. But I gradually extended the days between washes and my scalp got used to it and produced less oil. You can use dry shampoo or baby powder to extend the time between washes. Also a small percentage of people have an oily scalp no matter what they do. Just see what works best for you!

How do you not get a headache with all that hair in a bun??? Mine isn't nearly as long as yours and I can barely keep it tied up for ten minutes before I start getting a headache.
@pheloki

I have the same problem if I put the bun pointing backwards or up at an angle, my hair pulls and it's uncomfortable. That's why I've never been a fan of these hairstyles, including the man bun, I can't rreally have them for long. However, the top knot is fine because it doesn't drag my hair down. Same with a low bun. These two I like :)

Hey! Anyway, thanks for the video and keep uploading! I love it. Liebe Grüße aus Kanada!
@pheloki
@pheloki 7 жыл бұрын

+pheloki danke. you are lucky but my hair is similar. curly hair would suck because it would take so much longer.

I did the same when I had short hair and during my first year of growth, until a friend told me it is healthy not to wash it too often. Every 4 days is good.

Do you realize how lucky you are to have such a wonderful long mane? I'd love to see how long it falls with it all brushed straight forward. It must be freakin awesome!

your hair is so amazing and beautiful.....i really2 want my hair to grow more longer beacause for me, having the long hair is very2 incredible and attractive especially for men because we know most of men as short hair or medium long hairstyle....so i hope you did not cut your hair and growing it forever in your life.....plus not all men can grow their hair like you

I wish you to have your hair as long as possible. do you never cut the ends of your hair ?
@pheloki

Terminal length would be exciting too, but I'm not sure how easy I can implement the hair care it needs in my life. Yes, I cut off tiny bits, 5mm where damaged every 6 to 8 weeks. Do you have long hair too?

@pheloki

5 years and 2 months in this video, yes. However, I started from the tip of the nose and it was even longer in the back, so I guess that adds another year if you want to compare it to a buzz cut start.
