Honestly, I think the fear toxin makes MORE sense. It's a hallucinogen that activates fear receptors, basically giving the victim a VERY BAD trip that their own brain customizes. You could probably spin the rides as some sort of giant puzzle to summon Cenobites with, and you could have a bored character who's think they've seen it all be oddly attracted to it and then realize that the Cenobites can grant them sensations they've never have before.

8:48 Actually, when reading the cards of a tarot deck, "Death" doesn't usually mean "you're gonna die," so much as "an end is coming in your life" (like a relationship or a job, rather than, well, a life). So having him draw the Death card isn't really all that ominous. Of course, this is assuming you're actually into the belief that tarot cards = predicting the future, when they're better used as a "food for thought" sort of thing, since anyone who thinks you can predict the future by drawing some cards is fucking stupid. Because, clearly, THAT'S the biggest problem with this movie.

Sad part is, this could work in a better quality Hellraiser Flick. Someone gets the Hellraiser/Pinhead "Death" Card, solves the box or is too close to the one who does, gets caught, "dies" (IE: Changes/Transforms via Cenobite torture. Thus the old life "ends"), and becomes a Cenobite. See, Hollywood, is that really too hard to do? I think the only films/tv shows I seen that has done this right so far is "The People Under The Stairs" and one Episode of the old Simpsons. X_x

In the Spanish version it means changes or rapid changes, the cards pulled out afterwards determines if it positive or negative. Tarots aren't for predicting so much as a guidance, sort of like Zodiac signs or when events unfold before you you can make an educated guess the outcome of it.

Let me tell you everything I remember that happend in it...Man that was a long story. and I've seen hellraiser 2 twice. the second time I watched I went "have I seen the second one? i've seen all the others, why did I skip this one." the answer is...its friggin boring. At least with hellworld I got something I didn't expect and it held my intrest. as opposed to hellraiser...uhh....the one with the journalist in europe. that one I didn't like...but I at least remember a premise for the movie.

Great review, Phelous and I am very glad to see you tackle some Hellraiser, especially since it is in my opinion the worst of the Hellraiser films (and yes, I've seen Revelations and no, it's not the worst. At least this one is actually _set in the Hellraiser universe_ instead of turning it into a shitty java MMO-ish thing). I hope you review more of them somewhere along the line although admittedly, Hellseeker and Deader are so boring they may not offer much material. I am also very happy that your favourite is Hellbound as I also think it's the best. I love this kind of bizarre, otherworldly atmosphere. Plus Kirsty, who was already awesome in the first movie, gets even more badass in this one. Oh and Julia is a much better villain than Frank in my opinion (not that Frank was bad, I just find Julia more memorable). And Channard is also great.

You should do a review of Wishmaster and probably it's sequels too. They have interesting stories and some interesting practical effects (for the most part) but then there are the shitty actors and rather silly one liners from the main antagonist himself.

Watch 22:00, he solves the damn thing backwards. But, shouldn't be surprised, when you have dogs without thumbs able to solve it. At least its not found footage. Man could you just imagine that...Hellraiser as a found footage? That'd be a horrible revelation.

The Death card does not mean Death it means change and/or renewal. The writer of this movie must have been David Cage becuase he also doesn't know what the Death card is (Indigo Prophecy). Also SideBar Your Honor: How come all shitty horror movies (and a lot of things really like shit music videos) have Nokia phones in them? Nokia is the Beats by Dre of Phone advertisements in movies.

Exactly. The Tower means Disaster. But the way they shit the bed they should have used....The Fool. Bad joke I know but seriously they actually should have used The Judgment card becuase the naming is applicable seeing as they are being judged for there "sins" (of playing a dumb flash game) which works on a surface level and on a deeper level Judgment Upright means Judgement(obviously), rebirth, inner calling, absolution and Upside Down it means Self-doubt, refusal of self-examination. Which are all things expressed throughout the course of the movie especially if they had Judgment upside down but since most people don't know jack shit about Tarot they just said "OOOOH THE DEATH CARD, SCAAAARY!!!".
