Funny, the Halloween ep of the 2003 series (also the only Tmnt series with a Christmas episode) did the same thing with the turtles costuming as themselves on Halloween. In the 2012 series was a story arc involving classic monsters, pretty good though.

Ironically, Super Irma is one of the more remembered things from the 1987 show. Irma's superhero alter ego has shown up in Rescue Palooza, where it was originally going to be her default state but wound up just being her super move. In the mobile game Mutant Madness Super Irma is one of the first characters you can get and she's pretty darn useful for most teams. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if Super Irma gets referenced in the up coming Shredder's Revenge game. It's also more than likely a matter of time before NECA makes a Super Irma figure as well.

thankfully, over time, we have had many different turtles tackling the spookiest time of the year. there's the 2003 series' "All Hallows Thieves" and the 2012's version does technically have a normal Halloween episode in "The Invasion of the Squirrelanoids" but there was also the 4 part arc for the final season of the series with Savanti Romero, a time mutant, teaming up with monsters like the Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster and Vlad Dracula. time sure has changed.

I remember the Easter episode where Krang invented a ray that turns anyone it touches as scared as a rabbit, and the special guest star is the Hare of The Tortoise and the Hare from a fairy tale dimension. Say what you will about the 2014 & 2016 films, but at least they didn't have Irma. 13:08- You were so close to saying "GARBAGE DAY!" 18:35- Yeah, that's like saying "Don't expect the Power Rangers to combine their zords to make an Ultrazord in more than one episode. 21:23- Tell me about it. For Halloween 1991, my mom sewed me a Leonardo costume, and it was one of the happiest moments of my pre-school life.

Oh, this unlocked a lost memory for me! Like, I watched TMNT as a kid, but it wasn't one of those things that stuck with me or I ever revisited when I got older. Like, I couldn't name you a single episode plot that I haven't seen on your channel. And yet, when you mentioned that "April and princess mistaken identity" episode, something about that just *clicked*. It was something very specific about the angle of the window, the Turtles in the bushes, and everything, but this was definitely the one episode I had on videotape at, like, my grandmother's house! The few TMNT holiday episodes was one of the few mandates from Eastman and Laird. Which is a shame, since they actually pitched a great idea for a Christmas episode... but it ran afoul of CBS's policy of no religious imagery in a cartoon. (A big plot point was going to be Irma not celebrating Christmas... with the 'surprising revelation' that she is Jewish. Which had been heavily implied for about four or five years at the time.)

I think that’s Cam Clarke as the scientist too. That’s another thing I noticed - if you listen to Leonardo in the earlier seasons vs the later (pre-red sky), his voice gets notably higher. Like to match with how goofy (goofier) the show got. This might be regional, but growing up i noticed the show became abruptly sillier and worse when it moved from afternoons to Saturday morning. I assumed some writers/animators changed by that point.

TMNT's sillier seasons were basically satirizing action shows that took themselves too seriously (ironically what the show later became during Red Sky). Thankfully it didn't go completely off the rails like Real Ghostbusters.
