My single biggest complaint is the film still didn't tell us who the mother of Egon's daughter was. I can't be the only one wondering about that.

If the movie is anywhere near as funny as this review, I'm all for it Ghostbusters 2 is the best sequel because it can reboot without doing the same plot, which is something modern franchises just are obsessed with doing. Honestly the only new characters I liked in Afterlife were Phoebe and Podcast and their antics- I do get the impression that everyone gets their contribution and is integrated into the plot. That's hard to do, especially with intergenerational movies and crossovers. We didn't get that for Star Trek or Star Wars, not unless you count Picard or Obi-Wan. "Maybe he's more friends with Baraka" "No, he wouldn't be friends with Baraka" "Nobody would be friends with Baraka" "The Pole...still worked!" If the next one had Dana and Oscar it would be a lot of fun. That's a brilliant idea. I'd love Tully back but I respect Rick Moranis' choice about retiring. It does look like a fun movie- while Afterlife wasn't bad, it didn't really get any better than Answer the Call just because that film nailed the tone, nailed the jokes. I am firmly of the opinion that the 2016 film did a much better job at the tone; Answer the Call felt so self-conscious about being reverent that the jokes didn't really come fast enough. This one I feel they're finally loosening up, finally getting back into it. We had the same thing happen with the Muppets and Godzilla- the first one was kinda mid since it was about getting everyone to take things seriously and about nostalgia, and then the sequel finally got things back to where it should be. It definitely looks better than the last two and I'm glad you guys liked it.
@SanFran519 ай бұрын
The only difference is you can tell in Ghostbusters II that the cast clearly sound like they are just going through the motions and clearly just wanted to get over and done with. And the fact Bill Murray wasn't happy with it stating that the Special Effects overtook the comedy. Hence why Ghostbusters III never happened he clearly did not wanted to just repeat the same routines. Also the fact the studio literally forced in more special effects and more "kid friendly humour" to water it down.

The new villain was interesting, watching Dan Aykroyd getting loads of screen time and enjoying himself was fun, fan service in the form of Walter Peck and uniformed Janine was pretty nice, the reference to Ghostbusters reference made me smile, and I was interested with the blend of old and new Ghostbusters working together. The worst thing was the painful Phoebe and Melody scenes. They were awkward and uncomfortable, and I wish they could've found a better subplot. I'm glad y'all sorta had the same opinion. Like, it was a pretty solid movie, it had its moments that really felt part of the old movies without JUST being the old characters. It had some pacing issues and occasionally got a little overstuffed. For instance, feel it MIGHT have been better to either spend more time on the Fire Master stuff or the Good Ghost Melody stuff. Give it time to flesh out more. Melody especially, I feel like there's backstory there that could have been interesting. Was it just me, or were the Melody and Phoebe scenes getting almost... romantic? Did Phoebe start the fire that killed her family? There's a lot of stuff going on there.

Also the entire Melody plotline could have been replaced by Podcast recorder, Evil Dead style. 9 out of 10, loved it, don't go see it.

I *finally* got to see the movie. It was a bold choice having the Ghostbusters have to fight the ghost of Bobby Brown's career.

I saw it and loved it. I love them to use Samhain. Now that the ghost are free. I do wonder if he and the real Ghostbusters is loosely canon now. Or bring in the Extreme team.

Well the cartoon did have that one ghost fall in love with slimer so he'd show her the containment unit and open it lol

I personally wish the ending was a little longer and the final battle was a bit longer as well. But other than that, i like the movie.

I'm surprised you didn't make a joke about the junior Ghostbusters reference

Haha, yeah I meant to say we didn't need that reference but once again I forgot about the junior ghostbusters.

The review I've been waiting before. I hope we get a Ghostbusters live action series or/and more films.
