Watched all 7 (like any true fan did) and I have to say Phil is even more mature than I thought. Back again and full of energy and wisdom. Now I REALLY cant wait to see what the future of Down and Phil will be like.

With this one hour or so long interview, my life has forever changed for the better. Phil Anselmo has ALWAYS been an inspiration for my band and myself as a vocalist of the same category as Phil but today, Phil has become somewhat of an idol to me. He is truly a great man. Rock on brothers and sisters.

I saw pantera back in 92 and then constantly throughout the rest of the time they played together. Incredible band and just very sad to see things end the way they did. A lot of great memories from those shows and more importantly still a lot of great music to still listen to. Thanks for posting this....

Thanks for uploading this entire thing!!! I hope that everyone that has watched this will take every single word Phil said about addiction to heart & never travel down that dark & lonely path...I was addicted to pain killers for 5 yrs & God Bless him for coming out & letting young ppl know what it really does & what can happen just from "experimenting" with drugs or alcohol ..... ppl will brag about how good it makes them feel..but won't tell you how it makes them feel when they are LOWdopesick

Almost 80,000 have viewed this, there will be hundreds of thousands more, take a look at some of your other videos, this one will catch on, kids will talk to one another, then this will take off, THANKS PHIL - I will be telling so many about this, THANK YOU :-)

Love and will..Brought him full circle to realize "a new level of power and consciousness." Phillip, your music and pen has galvanized many emotions within me. Whether your intent or not, you inspire LOVE through angst, honesty and energy. You may not be a man of faith in Christ, but your music provides catharsis for those of us who believe in Christ and seek to make our way in this world that bites from the shadows. Amen Brother..

I've just finished watching all 7 parts and was really surprised to see an extremely honest, intelligent and soulfull Phil. I guess it was all circumstance which just got out of controll. He was just so bold and self confident and probably thought he'd never lose. To Phil; Your music still to this day helps me find strength when I'm low and now your words are also very inspiring. Some of the points raised appy to not only to drugs but excess of any nature...thanx Thanx for uploading!!!!!

i have had my fair share of drug problems and its so good to hear a positive voice from a person i look up too and knows first hand what its like to think of nothing but the drug. ive never touched heroin but an addiction is an addiction and ive beaten meth, extacy acid and any other prescription medication on hand. i now feel im not alone in the way my mind acts when i need a hit of whatever. thanks again this interview is the most invaluable clip ive ever watched on youtube

I have just sit and watched all 7 of these, and i have seen Pantera like 7 or 8 times, and they were the start of true heavy metal, no band brought it harder than them!! To see Phil like this and hear the way he talks about drugs, and life makes me even prouder that i followed them!! He is so true and so blunt, i love it, everyone should watch these! Much love and props to PHIL! ALWAYS HAVE AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE BEST OF ALL TIME!! RIP DIMEBAG!!!

Much respect to phil, he is one of the realist people you can meet, he has experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows. Its a miracle he is still alive. I am glad he seems like he is in such a good place in his life, and back on track. He is something else live aswell, seen Down twice over the summer and was in awe. I would love to meet him again as my first time was rediculous short. A legend in his own right man.

@1LSUredneck I agree with you, man. How people can watch the first one and not the whole lecture?!! This was the most honest, brutal, touching, beautiful and real thing I have ever seen. I've always been into Pantera, that's probably why it means so much, but just to hear Phil's voice, to see him tell these life stories was just really, really inspiring and thought provoking. I sat through the whole thing and will do again, many times

What he says about doing it for yourself is absolutely true. I tried so many times to stop drinking, for my family, for my partner, for my kid, when she left me, I did it for me. Now I've been sober for over 2 years. My partner came back, we now have two kids and a house together. Phil Anselmo is the King. I love him to death.

I was choking back tears while watching this the whole way, just like that dreadful day, when I was at work and in the break room catching a smoke and the evening news spot and found out that Dimebag had been killed. I've had my friends and family all turn their backs on me and stop taking my calls. I've walked in the room and crashed those conversations that I wasn't supposed to hear - that's pain - for certain. I'm profoundly happy that Phil is alive today - he was there for me when no one

Phil REALLY like to hear himself talk. Ya know, there are soo many top notch musicians in the world that have accomplished soo much more than he has or will and they would never talk about themselves in such high regard .... "My band is the best, heaviest, genre defining, end all be all....ect ect. He had his day and i suppose anyone asking him ANY question makes him hard cause at least then he can talk about himself..
@littleaussierippa12 жыл бұрын
Way to go mate. Congratulations on achieving sobriety. And all the best to you and your family. Phil is dead on. Doing something solely for others never works. The only person who can change or improve yourself is you. I learned that lesson too, many years ago.

Being an aspiring musician, myself, there is a world of questions I would have loved to have asked him about everything he just talked about. Most of these are not even music related; just about drug abuse, will, love, rise, fall, and all these different things. So much, that I'm surprised nobody from the audience really asked any questions like these. They were most -- to all -- music related, and I don't think that's right for other aspiring musicians. Lots and lots to consider for musicians.

I've always liked Pantera, and Phil has definatly earned my respect with his work and now I see him more grounded and as a real "able to suffer" person. I now respect him even more. Empowering and full of knowledge and experience in his own way is cool that he shares all this shit with us that have tried drugs and have been draged by them.

Without downloading I wouldn't have been able to find many of the bands I listen to today. If I like them enough I could buy a shirt or go pay for a ticket to see them live. For me personally, I like to download music first to see if I even dig the band/ album. If I end liking it I try to buy it on CD.

Phil brings everything down to a very real level. Love that about his music, and him as an individual. THere's plenty of musicians who've destroyed themselves with drugs or booze; Phil's one of two that I've ever listened to speak on it in a very profound, scary way. The other that I can think of Nikki Sixx, but his "outreach" was a book and a cd. Not to say it didn't scare the bejesus out of me, but I'd rather see someone speak on it out of a good of their hearts.
