One rainy when I was 18 me and 2 girls turned up at Sydney entertainment centre 10 min b4 the show was about to happen,had no idea who was playing but we scored front row tickets to the show Omg unbelievable,the seats we cancelled by celebritys and then Phil came on stage ! Daryl’s guitar tone here is absolutely massive. Strats are typically associated with brighter, more airy guitar sounds but whatever he’s using for effects, amps, etc. it’s just enormous beyond belief. I’d like to know what that amp or distortion box is because if it can make a Strat sound like that, good god…

I’m 34 and I’ve been listening to him since I was 3. An absolute legend. In the Air Tonight is one of those rare early 80s tunes (like Don’t Stop Believin) that our generation has really come to appreciate, and IMO this is better than the studio version.

Knebworth is also great and based on the same version like this in berlin. This is also the best Phil Collins band with: Phil Collins, Chester Thompson, Brad Cole, Leyland Sklar, Daryl Stuermer.

I’m going on 70 now and have always ❤’d this Phil Collins/Genesis song since it was 1st released, which was even before THIS 1990 concert! It’s not only due to the music, lyrics, Phil’s voice, the backing of Genesis, etc., but mainly bc of the memories it brings back from those days gone by. Being a Baby Boomer might mean that I’m getting ‘old’, but I’m still glad to have been exposed to the 👍 music from those years (and other things too - many of which no longer exist). It’s a shame that a lot of the music many of the younger people listen to now and consider as being the ‘greatest’ ever DK what they’re missing out on, and it’s sad 😢 . (* I can even remember listening to this particular song in my 20’s on a Bahamas Club Med vacation - some of the good ‘ole days for me.) BUT today, thanks to technology, we are able to continue to enjoy this, and other great music that has been preserved and made available to the world 🌎!

Hi Phil, I don't know how to start but I hope you'll get my message. I got my first walkman with radio function in 1887, back in Leipzig, in the GDR. There was a Genesis concert in West Berlin, which was broadcast by RIAS2. You delivered a solo on the drums that I can't forget to this day and am still looking for. I can't remember it exactly. I am now 54 and still admire your work. Is there a recording or a private recording of you that would bring me closer to my goal? I saw the "Drum Duet" in the setlist, but I always get a vid with Chester from 2004.
