...and actually brought a bit of a tear to my eye, seeing Phil in his physical condition, Mike older...and l realized l was beginning to weep not only for them but for all of us, and that golden time of life that has passed and can never be recaptured. I feel privileged to have experienced it. Long live Genesis, real rock and roll, life, love, and you and me. Enjoy your life.

Absolutely agree my man, seeing Genesis at Knebworth in front of 100,000 people and at the lyceum in london, in front of around 1,500 people - happy memories. Now this reunion just announced, we dont need this and deep down Phil Collins doesn't, given his frailness and failing voice - not good atall

I once played a double neck Shergold 12 string guitar/ 4 string bass, just like Rutherford's and it was like strapping on a grand piano. I often wondered how he managed to play those buggers for the duration of an entire show. But then again, he's tall, he plays polo so he had to be in very good shape.

@RastaSaiyaman
@RastaSaiyaman 5 жыл бұрын
@@patrickschlies6542 He had several double necks made. this picture shows them all pbs.twimg.com/media/Dofq9rtXoAAJeF3.jpg The first was two Rickenbackers (a 360/12 guitar and a 4001 bass) fused together, which is the one you're referring to. The next double neck was a Rickenbacker 12 string married to a Microfrets six string bass. Which he used on the "Lamb lies down on Broadway" and several shows of the "A trick of the tail" tours. The third was a Dick Knight custom built number used as his man instrument of the "A Trick of the tail" and "Wind and wuthering" tours. The fourth and that's the one I was referring to, is a Shergold custom number of which the halves could be separated from each other and used as autonomous instruments. www.shergold.co.uk/images/farm/clipsapart.jpg The fifth is a Status Graphite custom number which was used during the "mama" tour and after that he dropped the double neck concept all together. Until the 2007 reunion tour came around and he had Chandler marry a Gibson 12 string to a Yamaha TRB4 bass.

A very special moment in what has been a very long, sometimes strained journey, but always rewarding for both men. Especially when Phil left Genesis, and simply could not be replaced. But time has a way of healing all wounds, and it's obvious that the two have a very special and lasting friendship that has survived rock and roll. It's really a testament to Phil's growth and maturity, thru all the marital and medical issues, that has brought them both to this moment. Thanks, Phil!

This was my first Genesis tune I was turned on to from my friend while doing bongs down in his parents basement and was hooked on Genesis and never missed a concert from 1977-2007 and I don't want to remember Phil like this or Genesis and those days were the best but God Bless Phil for wanting to keep going...

We get older we don't look the same but we sound the same that's what love is but never ends Don't look at the outside the inside is everything come on Genesis come to California we'll make you look back all the years you made us happy and you continue to thank you so much Phil Collins and Mr Rutherford was so glad to see you

It’s sad to see that time has depleted Phil of his mobility and drumming skills. Nice to see Mike share this song that he wrote for Then There Was Three album. Phil is very brave to still perform. All credit to him. His son Nick will be fantastic drummer.

Can't help feeling sorry for Phil... He had a terrific double career that seems to have taking his health so quicklly... It's too early! I wish retiring would have given him peace... But music is in his blood... I hope he feels the love from us and from his relatives to keep him warm. You gave so much to so many for so many years. Thanks and God Bless you.

Great to see Phil and Mike, top musicians who are still on a journey we have grown up with over many years, and much loved by the millions out there, they were my rock as a young teenager who I adored as Genesis, they are truely one of the best or maybe best band that ever and they will ALWAYS be a big part in my life till all ends.

Phil is the face of the 80s. I remember i'd go to the supermarket in Belgium and on the end cap there would always be a single with his face on it. Then you'd go to the record store and theyd be an album or a 12 inch with his face. Then you switch on the tele and hes on Miami Vice. Then youd go to tower records in London and theres a new genesis album out which they push on top of the pops or mtv. turn on the radio or walk in the malls and theres that familiar sound. Phil captures and conveys the sights and sounds of an era
