The next double neck was a Rickenbacker 12 string married to a Microfrets six string bass. Which he used on the "Lamb lies down on Broadway" and several shows of the "A trick of the tail" tours. The third was a Dick Knight custom built number used as his man instrument of the "A Trick of the tail" and "Wind and wuthering" tours. The fourth and that's the one I was referring to, is a Shergold custom number of which the halves could be separated from each other and used as autonomous instruments. www.shergold.co.uk/images/farm/clipsapart.jpg The fifth is a Status Graphite custom number which was used during the "mama" tour and after that he dropped the double neck concept all together. Until the 2007 reunion tour came around and he had Chandler marry a Gibson 12 string to a Yamaha TRB4 bass.

Anyone remember when Peter Gabriel was in the band? What a collection of talent.

Adam Zeveski Absolutely...also after he left, both Genesis & Gabriel had their biggest successful at the exact time in ‘86...their album ‘Invisible touch’ & ‘So’ by Peter - such a coincidence & both great albums!

Of course. Selling England By the Pound to me is one of the greatest albums ever made.

With Tony on the keys, Mike on bass, Steve on the guitar and Phil on drums, of course there was talent...!

IMHO the real Genesis ended when Steve Hackett left. In my book of Genesis everything ended with Wind & Wuthering. Don‘t need to hear anything that came afterwards ever again.

Phil is the face of the 80s. I remember i'd go to the supermarket in Belgium and on the end cap there would always be a single with his face on it. Then you'd go to the record store and theyd be an album or a 12 inch with his face. Then you switch on the tele and hes on Miami Vice. Then youd go to tower records in London and theres a new genesis album out which they push on top of the pops or mtv. turn on the radio or walk in the malls and theres that familiar sound. Phil captures and conveys the sights and sounds of an era

This song always brings a lump to my throat 🙁 One of the most criminally underrated song writer's ever.

Amazing talent Phil is, all these years his voice and music will live on forever, hopping he says around for a long while yet, preforming as he can. Voice has not changed live one bit in over 40 years!

Maybe your age related hearing loss syncs up with their age related voice loss.

Chills when the guitar riff starts, chills when no organ comes in but an electric piano and you realize there's no Tony Banks around.
