What a fantastic show. This man left an impression even in the USA. He could have been on the side of the trenches with students working and calling him when something was found. But it always seemed he enjoyed being in the dirt. What a show.

What a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime experience that would have been. I remember that episode and Phil saying he's not disappointed finding nothing. He was always so accepting and positive about the Digging. He was always happiest digging a ditch, standing in a ditch, but mostly with a trowel in his hand. God love him. ❤️

This explains why Phil and Ian work so well together. Ian is amazing. He often can spot things from up in his cab. Phil, of course, was the driving force that kept everything together. He is a badger... He never gave up. Amazing man.

Phil was my favorite Time Team member. I can imagine him as a rough young boy then a 20yr old long hair with odd curiosity about history. Phil is different, unique, an untumbled stone. I love the shows he is in because his odd intuition was like a spy program.

I know this is a year after your post, but they're crowdfunding for new 'episodes'. Early days (Started Dec 4th IIRC), so we don't know exactly what form it will take or who will be on camera. That won't be decided til much further along the process, sometime after the Production Design (PD) or whatever Tim called it. Check out the announcements and catch-ups with cast members on the Time Team Classics channel if you haven't already and are still interested.

I found Time Team from the other side of the globe during the pandemic. Loved Phil. He said it as he saw it and persisted. The way he could read a trench was amazing. I have been following him at his new location. Still mesmerizing to listen to and his laugh! Just makes me happy. Time Team won’t be the same without him, but what stays the same? Life moves on and we just need to let him know how much he is appreciated. I saw his video on Salisbury and was glad he still loves what he does after all this time. How many of us can say that? Good on you, Phil! A beacon during dark times.

I loved Time Team; all the characters and all the settings from first to last. Phil, Carenza, Mick the Dig, Helen, Raksha, Matt, the two Ian’s, Tracy, Sophie, Katie, Margaret, Jackie, Alice, Guy, John, Chris, Henry, Bernard, Maya, Sue, Raysan, they were all great and sorry to any I missed out. Good on you Tony and Mick for giving us such a great TV program! I still watch all the re-runs and I’ll keep watching until they take them off the air. If the whole series was available on DVD (Australian Zone) I would race out and buy it for my library and for my grandchildren’s education.

Last few days, the news is timeteam producer is crowdfunding and has a patreon account set up to fund new timeteam episodes, with a patreon being able to contribute with choosing sites. Plus theres a couple of official timeteam channels set up to help get that started with the 1st patreon target achieved in 3 days, and things looking good. There may be some old faces involved too but details are uncertain as many are now alot more high ranked and are busy on their own projects. Phils been helping waterloo uncovered, which is working at the battlefield, and a few other timeteam members can be found helping digventures, both companies have youtube channels worth watching.

Time Team was seriously undermined when the format was drastically changed a couple of series ago .... by the time it was realised that they had to return to the original format the damage had been done! Its not been the same ever since. Its time now for a new approach & programmes of a similar nature . I'm busy looking at the possibilities, having made my programme with Time Team I will always remember fondly the five days we spent together, an experience that will stay with me in the future

The BBC has a habit of doing this to programmes that become popular. Even fiction. They deliberately refused to do the final series of 'Mulberry'. That particular series was essential to the whole series but they went ahead and destroyed it. For that matter they have a history of physically destroying all programmes once they've been made. An organisation led by idiots who don't deserve the talent that has come their way over the years. Time Team could run forever and it would be still popular.

Phil Harding my favorite Time Teamer. He must have wanted to slap Tony lots of times and never did. Good on ya for that, Tony was something else during the later seasons. Never get tired of listening to Phil Harding. Why not have him narrate updates on the digs since they were dug by Time Team? Half the footage would be re-run. Low overhead. Go for it, British TV. We want to know what else has been learned about the sites they dug.

Archaeology do not have the support regarding to cash terms otherwise this would take place on restoring:some do some don't 'this is why pro Mick Aston attended to Houses of parliament in order for government support. On most Time Team programs, they do re construct real things into real history terms-sea henge & so on. I am not old and archaeology is amazing and interesting especially what Time Team do and others; so Thumbs up. Unless anybody can invent or do better with no cash support.

it became a show of characters and comedy skits, hardly something associated with archaeology and history, that was why it went downhill, I understand it had to be more entertaining than informative as time progressed to keep viewers interested. Phil got louder and louder and his laughs became more and more elongated and he found fame and was certainly playing upto his character.

I guess its becus Im fairly young, I just get tired of all these historical type programmes where they shows us what a certain place/thing used to b like only in cgi visual reconstructions. I rathered they actually rebuild like replicas of these places they seem to accurately re-create. I know they probably cudnt rebuild them to exact size, or maybe even permanatley, Id just appreciate full hands on replica of such historical things
