Phil’s secret workout routine impresses his grandson-in-law Christian Huff, and Jase’s childhood dreams came true on a special episode of “Duck Dynasty.” Christian describes his mission to help young men learn to focus on their spiritual and physical health as well as the ability to protect their families. The guys skip ahead to study Saul’s transition into Paul over the course of more than a decade and how his heritage as both a Jew and a born Roman citizen helped him out of a tight spot.

Jase, the greatest thing about working out is the results-you feel better, you look better and there are usually a healthy outcome physically and mentally. The reason military works out and so on-is not only to be strong, but it strengthens you mentally as well AND you are able to withstand stress, heat and cold better than if you don’t work out. I will retire in 6 months and my husband is out of the military but we both will continue to work out for the rest of our lives-it’s just that good. And Christian is right, there is a balance in everything. You want to do it for the right reasons. God is good and thank you to Phil and Kay and your family for this great ministry. We are age 59 and 55.

Saul did not change his name. He went by both. Saul was the Jewish version of his name. Paul was the Greek version of his name. I think an analogy would be English and Spanish names: Joseph/Jose or John/Juan.

This in his Fifties Montanan gets it! I hate working out and would rather go through a Chinese torture of some sort. Although I do like to elk/deer hunt still and not feel like I’m dying at 8,000 ft. So, eating right and a little conditioning through the year seems like the only way to care for what the Lord has entrusted us with and part of being a good steward .

Howdy from Riverton Wyoming! Question people give Saul holding coat for those stoning Stephen as first appearance of Saul in Scripture. Do you not think that he was one of them that was questioning Stephen in Act 6? See verse nine also look at 21:39 when Saul says he is from Tarsus of Cilicia, a city of insignificance. 6:9 men from various places including Cilicia. Also, what time frame is this from when Christ? Say Saul was a young man, but not whether he was in Jerusalem when Christ was alive.

I have been listening to the "Unashamed" podcast every morning for several years now. All Glory to the LORD our God Amen I love you all, but brother Phil is my favorite. Keeps it simple and keeps the faith and funny at times. As for the 'Cell" phone, I'm with you brother Phil. I grew up without a cell phone and we survived just fine. However, I will say that in many cases a cell phone is necessary. However, with this fallen world it is addictive to many. Let's prayer continually before GOD in Jesus Christ Name Amen and Amen. As I am listening today with all this talk about "Physical" appearance, which there is nothing wrong with respecting the body and keeping it healthy, as long as you don't turn it into vanity. However, the Lord says in the bible 1 Corinthians 6:20 "you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." The LORD is not interested whether you are buffed up or not. Just keep the faith for the battle belongs to the LORD Amen So, with all this physical appearance look, especially "You want to be strong to protect your wife and/or family member" and again nothing wrong with this that. However, at that moment GOD laid on my heart "David" in the bible who was not strong in stature rather "your" word "Scrawny" He was meek and mild and quiet. See below in "1 Samuel 17:47-51." David would not wear any body armor; rather trusted GOD and with one "Stone" took the Giant down striking him and killing him. Then GOD made "David" King of a Nation. God's ways are not our ways. There are many examples of GOD using ungodly people at times i.e. Nebuchadnezzar, a Babylon king; Cyrus king of Persia (See Isaiah 45), Saul, "Paul the Apostle" changed and used by GOD to witness to the gentiles bringing us into the fold for God so loves "Israel" his chosen people, but GOD so loves the Gentiles because with love him. Whomever, GOD uses, he brings into a relationship with him the "Creator" of all. Colossians 1:16-17 "For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." 1 Samuel 17:47-51 "Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David. Therefore David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled. God is my protector in Jesus Christ Name Amen and Amen 2 Timothy 4:7-8 "Paul" "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. GOD Bless you all in Jesus Christ Name Amen and Amen

Acts 13 is THE transitional chapter for Paul. Prior to that point Barnabas was listed first because Barnabas was more important. But in Acts 13 the transition comes. 1. The decision is made to concentrate on Gentiles. 2. Saul starts going by the Gentile version of his name (Jesus didn't change it) 3. Paul starts being listed FIRST because he is more important. Why did things change? ***Because Paul finally accepted the role Jesus gave him when he was called as a witness to the Gentiles. When we accept the role God has given us, things take off.

It’s not a name change. His name never changed. Just a different version on the same name. Saul/Paul was just depending on where he was/who he was ministering to, Jews/Gentiles. That’s all.

These guys are so good at so many Bible topics, yet in this Acts series they continually get the Saul/Paul thing wrong. They even note that Acts 13 says, “Saul, who was also called Paul . . .” That’s it. There was no name change with his conversion, just a Greek/Roman or Greek/Jew thing with him having two names to go by. Yes, he had a dramatic conversion, but the name thing has nothing to do with it.

John 7:28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matt 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Matt 23:1Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. 4For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. 11But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. 13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. 14Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

It's not a transition from the "whole system of God's law" though. We've been transitioned from the "sacrificial law" to the law of grace, so we don't need to do carnal sacrifices and offerings anymore (Heb 10:10). But the commandments are still valid. But we don't "make the law void through faith, we establish[stand by] the law" (Rom 3:31)
