PH understands his image and dwan s handle on it too: he s very unlikely to be betting A hi or even AJ in that spot so when he bets and still gets check raised he knows the writing s on the wall with Qs full as he chopping at best as dwan s very unlikely to be bluffing him off of what s looking like a boat.

Drug use, drinking, not sleeping, horrible eating habits, and just an overall unhealthy lifestyle can do that. I don't know that Tom does that stuff, but a lot of people say he does or claim he has in the past. That combination and the stress of a high stakes poker life style can age you. Funny thing is is that he's looked older and worst in the past. It looks like he's been taking better care of himself now as opposed to before.

Tom should have just 4bet the tens, Phil doesn't 5bet shove air. Tom played horribly preflop this match, and got run over preflop like it's his first day playing cards. His lack of adjustment to Phil 3betting trash repeatedly, specifically at the same times (when steaming), was ridiculous. Just 4bet him! A few times the commentators were confused by Phil's bets because they were asking "what is he trying to represent with that bet?" Phil wasn't trying to represent anything. On those bets, Phil had narrowed down Tom's hand range and was either trying to get value or mess with Tom. Phil made Dwan look like an amateur this game, and Phil pretty much just stuck to game theory.

@gs6810
@gs6810 3 жыл бұрын
Why would anyone ever raise? It's clearly a call or a fold. There is absolutely nothing to gain from raising. Everything worse than queens full has an easy fold. Everything better than queens full obviously raises again, and you chop with another queen. Queens full is nothing but a bluff catcher in this spot.

Whenever someone asks if poker is gambling or skill, show them these last 9 NLHU matches. Fact is, if this format holds for the next 25 years, no one will ever go 8-1 over 9 NLHU live televised matches at these stakes, ever again. Imagine if the WR holder for Jeopardy was from the 1st episode? The only conclusion one could make would be that relatively speaking, that person, at that time was unquestionably the smartest player ever to compete. Phil Hellmuth is truly the GOAT of GOATS.

Phil played okay here but also so incredibly amateur plays. The check when he had the straight flush on a 5 straight board is such a minus EV play. Dwan never going to bluff that river and a great spot for PH to bet big and potentially get called by someone Dwan playing the board. Just such a waste of a monster hand.

Lots of pros would have bluffed that river in Tom's spot. Tom himself had done that in a previous similar hand that match. When the commentator Phil Galfond says he likes Phil's line, it means something.

He will get crushed in the best online cash games, especially heads up. He excels at one format - live NLHE tournaments. Especially against amateurs. Playing other poker variants, or online, or cash, he's not even in the conversation.
