Best podcast I have come across. I cleaned up all the toxic people from my life. I just ended a one year relationship because and he would do is gossip about his own family. Ugly talk. Then when around them put on a pretty fake face. Disgusting. Financially irresponsible, self centered. And a total gaslighter! I can't function in an environment so poisoning

Dr.Phil this has been so eye opening for me!! I have been listening since the 1st episode of this, and I chose to hear this because of my son. While listening 😢 Im pretty sure my deceased parents had these things and so do I. Its crazy!!! I always just thought it was just normal. By learning these things i see why we were all so dysfunctional... I def think my son and I are PD and Narcissistic. Please continue teaching us and 🙏 pray for us Thank You so muches ❤

Everyone in my life is basically a Baiter/ toxic person. I can get rid of everyone, but then I am down to ground zero as far as friends and family are concerned. My parents were the best, but they are both deceased. I successfully meet new people that I consider sapsuckers as well. It's crazy out there!

Dr Phil, please keep talking about these toxic traits. They can be so subtle that a lot of us need to hear about them and how to get out of the traits in our own lives and get out of relationships with people what are toxic over and over again from different angles.

I forgot to say, " I love you Dr. Phil". There just seems to be an excess of toxic people. I am very articulate and precise and creative. I graduated with my masters degree at a 4.0 grade point average. I was a competitive figure skater. My father was an entrepreneur graduating as a pharmacist and then as an eye surgeon. My mother was a remedial reading teacher and manager of basically everything else. I have three ruthless, worthless Brothers and say handful of friends as Baiters. It's really hard to meet decent people that are into self development and sincerity and honesty. The world is very self-centered and lacks emotional intelligence, along with emotions in general.

To detect a narc, the one on one situation it's the worst case scenario! But when you're in a group they tend to be less aware of their doings and they will act in some manners that will show you quickly who they are. RUN for the hills when you see narc red flag!! But with a 100% SAFE plan ! Don't get caught while escaping 🤯🤯

I have been in therapy a different times for over 20 years and when I explain these things they minimized, rationalized and invalidated my experiences. I felt like I was the one with the problems due to my reaction to toxic behavior. This info would have saved me so much time and energy long time ago. Its like we have to go around putting a brave and kind face onto the world no matter what and give people the benefit of the doubt. Not anymore!

I wish they could hear what you said. I was by no means perfect but we sat down for dinner every night, I made sure they had dessert, clean clothes and Christmases and birthdays. I was a single mom who had to be a bit strict so my four children couldn't run over me and more importantly get hurt. Thank you. I love all your videos! All of his tv experience has made McGraw an great orator online for this KZbin space. Glad he's sharing his knowledge. I would love to see him in conjunction of other youtube professional celebrites like Katie Morton or Dr. Ramani; or Dr. Grande; Psychology in Seattle (Mr. Honda); or Dr. Tracey Morgan! Because he's still a doctor with Psychology knowledge so i dont see why not. He isnt practicing or prescribing; i don't think, they are just giving their hypothetical take on a what-if scenario. Heck, Richard Grannon would be a great take since he is just as charismatic. What a meeting of the minds it would be!

Sounds like my mama. Last thing she did was hire someone to spray weed killer ...he came on my property and killed over 25 large plants and many medicinal plants. She blamed the guy and me. It was my fault I didn't stop him. I had no idea he was even there. Poor guy felt so bad. He came to talk to me. He said "Carol, this really bothers me but it doesn't seem to bother your mother. I think she had me do it on purpose." I could write a book. I'm 57 years old and she's still at it.

There is a covert narc couple living next door. I have been very generous to them. They used to thank me, but stopped. They never do ANYTHING for me, and I mean absolutely nothing. They ignore me completely until they want something; then they show me a little attention. As soon as I give them what they want, they ignore me completely again until the next time. The management moved them in next door to me. I can't move at present, and am stuck with them. But once I do move, there is NO guarantee that more narcs won't be waiting for me.

That is scarier than hell to hear those words from you . But you know you're exactly right 😢 when the sad thing is my Wifw I've been separated from four years is one of those people. I thought she was the greatest thing I ever found when her and another country. Married her after a year and a half. He wasn't the most beautiful for all that young and had three teenage boys. But I thought she had I heart for God and a heart of gold an entrepreneur spirit and I believe we can really do great things. I thought she was too good for me. 7 years later she caused me to lose both of my house , my job of 23 years, and put me in jail 3 times on false domestic assault charges. And she tried to do it again 3 months after my mother had just died. She came from 14:04 out of state where I used to live to supposedly comfort me and help me get through the loss of my mother . Somehow in my weak emotional state she convinced me that my family in Tennessee missed me and they love me and why don't I just come down for a couple months and try it I can even see my dog again... We took a U-Haul truck to Tennessee and fought all the way down for 9 hours. I told her that I wasn't going to move in with her I was going to drop her off and I was turning the truck around and it was going back home to Michigan. She said to me okay you want to play dirty let's play dirty! I knew what that meant . The problem was is I had no money at the U-Haul truck was out of gas at the gas station and we still had another 200 miles to go. She wouldn't give me the key of the truck And she wouldn't put gas in truck . She threatened to leave me there stranded with all my worldly possessions mini expensive guitars and amplifiers and recording e we eqiptment. I called my brother for help and he told me call the police. He said David you've got to beat her at her own game if you don't call the police she's going to do something to you I called the police find you again when you get to Tennessee at least you'll have it on record that she was acting crazy can you call the police first. So I did. It hurt me like hell to do it I didn't want to do it. Nobody got arrested but she tried to claim that I had threatened her and she felt fear for her safety the police didn't believe her. they told us not to talk to each other not even one word all the way to her City in tennessee. They asked me to give her the key because she told him that I was driving too fast and eradically. I unfortunately agree to do this big mistake. She took me through a cross-country farm Road Long route that took double the amount of time to get there. Energy proceeded to drive circles on the bypass around the city. Finally I broke my silence and I said what the hell are you stop this truck now in park in call your sons to come pick you up and hand me the keys. The whole time she was talking in Spanish with her sons I had no idea what she was planning but she had an evil-looking smirk on her face she even laughed at me and smiled. I yelled and I screamed and she still wouldn't pull the truck over. And then it hit me.... This b**** is trying to run the truck out and leave me stranded with no money the gas gauge on empty. I told her that she didn't stop at the next gas station I was going to throw the truck in the park even if we crashed I was stopping that truck. She said I'm stopping in two more exits and then all the sudden I realized the exit that we were getting off was the town that we used to live together in my house. The very town that I was arrested for for domestic assault the first time. We pulled into the gas station I saw two of her oldest sons was very angry faces with their arms crossed glaring at me. Her oldest son came up to me as I was getting her bags out of the truck and he said you are going down! You are going down the next thing I knew I saw five cop cars come flying into the gas station with their lights on... No f****** way!! They all jumped out of the cars you must have been seven or eight cops and they ran right for me . I put my hands up in the air and I said let me guess my wife called you guys again huh? The first thing they said Mr bird do you have on you? Mr bird did you try to threaten your wife with a gun? I said of course not . They said Mr bird do you have a gun in your vehicle ? And I'm thinking to myself oh my God ... Yes I have a shotgun in the box section of the U-Haul truck. But I had remembered to put all the shells in the glove compartment loocked . And they said Mr bird we understand that you tried to threaten your wife with a hammer in Michigan? So is it possible you maybe did threaten her with a gun? Did you drive back did you with your fist did your lunge at her ? All this time my wife is putting on the best oscar-winning performance crying and bawling her eyes out while both of her sons have their arms around her shoulder say Mommy we don't need that man you don't we don't need that man he's bad he's a bad man. And I remember what my brother told me just calmly and slowly explain your whole story. Tell them that she has a long history of doing this with you as well as her ex-husband and another country who happens to be a respected surgeon in the community. And then all the charges that you were charged with were all dropped because they were bogus. I told them that she was a classic covert and malignant narcissist and when she doesn't get her way or she loses control of me she does the same thing every time and that's called the police. And I told them to contact the other city in Kentucky where I was at when I called the police and her crazy behavior. After about an hour and a half I'm going back and forth back and forth and back and forth with us police talking to different police officers in about 50 people at the gas station watching me like I'm some kind of criminal they finally agreed that there was no domestic assault.. they gave me the keys to the truck and the younger cop told me to the side and he said to me he says so what are your plans now? I told him I'm going to put gas in this truck and I'm going to drive all the way back to Michigan and I'm not going to stop and I'm never coming back here again.. I'm filing for divorced as soon as home. And he said to me well you know I'm not a marriage counselor but I have to tell you that I think you probably need to let this one go and put it behind you as fast as possible. I said yeah I know I agree. Can you wish me good luck and he said man he said man get you some no-nos get you some coffee and if you get tired pull over he says you've been on the road 11 hours and you got another 11 hours to go all this crap happened to me two days just two days after my mother died in my arms while my wife was there with me kissing her on the cheek. This woman is purely evil she clearly has demonic forces in her to do things like this. In the whole time she pretends to be this holier than thou Christian and I'm an unrighteous sinner that's going to hell. yes

Yes, I blocked her and she got very angry. We have a grand baby with several special needs and our son and her need our help. Her family isn’t involved… wonder why? I’ve just had to try grow a thick skin and get educated about what I’m dealing with. I still cry and pray all the way home after I’ve spent a day with her. This is an excellent podcast. I particularly like the "Evil 8". It simplifies behavior traits for a layperson to understand. Unfortunately, the folks who display these signs won't admit to them. What I have also discovered is that some therapists are duped by the client with these behavior signs. Toxic people are great manipulators. Recently, my daughter was in an inpatient facility for mental distress. She has multiple mental disorder diagnoses. I wanted to speak to the therapists about her and assured them that I had a Masters in Psychology. They refused. In my practice with substance abusers/dependence, a great deal of them displayed signs of other disorders and they were referred to mental health counseling. I also got permission from the client to talk to family members about their experience with the client.

MS, hers(44) and mine(62) now she gave me 2 months of the best relationship and one day she told me the woman I fell in love with doesn't exist, she said "your lover is packed away and will never show up again." This woman claims no memory of what we did or had. No empathy and I felt angry and I refused to go with her flow in hopes someday she'll come home again. No so, she told everybody I made it up in my head, yet we text and talked everyday - morning and night. I got screamed at on a weekly basis and next "hi how are you, sorry for getting mad" OMG I can't diagnose her but these podcasts really helped me to know it wasn't me and I'm not the narcissist. to many words to explain but thx for the clarity.

This is just a recap of the BASIC list, so others can pay attention and listen and find the list below after watching the video. *watch the video for the more expansive and crucial information that explains how this shows up in life* 1) Do they have a worldview and personal lens is one of arrogant entitlement, treating people as targets? 2) Do they lack empathy? Do they only feel for themselves? 3) Do they have NO remorse? Do they learn from situation to situation? Do they feel guilt? 4) Are they irresponsible and self-destructive, putting themselves at risk and others, including jobs, safety, children in peril, etc. ? 5) Do they thrive on drama and crisis (and are they the common denominator of crisis)? 6) Do they brag about outsmarting other people? 7) Do they have a pattern of short-term relationships? 8) Do they live in a fantasy world of their own, marked by delusion?

♥️♥️♥️♥️Thank You for the education & humor!! My Ex- Predator doesn't want to let me go so he continually gaslights me. Breaks into my phone even though I didn't give him the #. He stole my 1/2 of our company! Had our eldest daughter commit FRAUD to help her Dad (the one that abandoned his daughter because he didn't want to be a dad...He had too much living to do!) He is Screwing You Ashley & he will throw you out just like you helped him do to me. He won't change & he does Not give a shit about anyone but himself! Never has Never Will!!

I am listening after the original series so I’m not sure you’ll see this Dr Phil but I want to point out that you never mentioned that psychopaths/narcissists may use pity as a weapon. They make people feel sorry for them so they can manipulate you more thoroughly.

I want to make this comment before I forget.. My part in the toxic relationships is that I go to them.. My experience is that if I just "Let them go" that I am fine..

Same here. I try to let it go with a 10 years relation but she doesn't. Can't just cut ties with a narc like this... But not letting her the opportunity to hurt me, it's the best relief ever!

The hardest is when the narcissist is close family. She watches your channel on this, then accuses everyone else of being a narcissist. She is always the victim. Drama has driven our family into depression. We can’t enjoy any holiday or birthday or special event. On top of this disorder, she is also an alcoholic and prescription pill addict. We feel like we’re hanging on by a thread some days.

How do your daughter is toxic ? I'm asking because my little sister is too. I've seen how over protecting and nursering our mother was with her. No boundaries. Never her fault for anything. How was you with her ? No judgment here...

My narc father promised to pay for my university. Encouraged me to turn down free rides and pick a school that was rather expensive. Didn’t pay the billls and when I returned to campus for sophmore year got kicked out of the dorms for non payment. Spent 3 years working to get recognized as an adult so I could qualify for financial aid, as he refused to fill out the forms. He told the family.I dropped out because I "was on drugs".

Narc as a father... Can't imagine how you've survived! My lil sister is a malignant narc. Higher toxicity ever! Our mother is a stroke survivor. Behind the family back she called the institut and said that neither her or the family wanted our mother coming back at home. That the institut had to find a solution by themselves... No empathy. Free crazy people out there. But your story with your father and the university is on an other level !!

@I-Am-Prosperous-I-Am-Grateful no longer in contact after it became apparent that this and other choices he made were meant to be harmful/hurtful. And no, there has never been an apology for anything because he's "done nothing wrong/Jesus forgave him"

My passive-aggressive covert narcissistic husband who I am separated from but still have to maintain a cordial relationship with. He's still no good for me even though he's not staying under the same roof as me. He takes everything wrong and plays dumb and it's all on purpose. Imagine someone doing all of that instead of trying to be a better person? He chose the dark side.

I have no one , not one, normal family member. In my life,,, well maybe a nephew, but I’m not sure yet. It just saddens me sometimes, when I see sisters planning an outing, or being together as it should be / thru love for each other. I’m so envious I just cry. The Bible says “ He sets the lonely in families”,,, but still,,, it’s not Like having your own. My Mom is gone now. My two sisters vanished years ago and never returned, do not even want to be found. I would have been the best sister/ best friend/ confidante,,, but I have to now believe that God was protecting me from more chaos and heartbreak. I have removed 3 people OUT OF MY LIFE, just in a month. It feels so good. The gut uneasiness left me. My Peace returned. I did this very prayerfully and I did it forthcoming, NOT AVOIDING. THANK YOU DEAR Dr Phil. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
