Loved this interview of Phil Manzanera - I consider “Siren” from Roxy Music one of the great albums of the 1970s. Great job teasing the details - loved the Bob Dylan story.

@@JJONNYREPP Horses for courses, I love the Country Life album, probably because Phil and Paul shine most on that record.

I first didcovered Roxy Music on sounds of the 70s on BBC2 (i think), and it was the Eno period. I immediately focused on Phil Manzanera , with his bug eyed glasses and cool style. I'll get his book, as he's someone who's led a fascinating & brilliant life.

Roxy music was so unique in the early years , playing, part punk , glitter, part space music , their first 5 albums are in a class by themselves. Then they broke apart, and when the reform the group, that space and punk and glitter was gone , Roxy because just furry and slow romantic songs. They left the sound In which I felt made them so unique and original. They became more commercial. It wasn't the same. Phil was so much a part of this original sound.

Wow! Imagine the British government owning an Airline?! Great life; great story ; great retelling; I'm on the verge of forgiving this channel for it's politicalisation of just plain music & musicians and considering resubbing👍
