The live performance at Perkins Palace in 1982 is even more emotional. Love Phil.

I didn't appreciate Phil Collins back in the day, when he was everywhere. Now, at 61, I realize why he was everywhere. He's good, That's why. Edit: He was a drummer, but he ca't play anymore due to health issues. I feel for him.

THANK YOU!! I've wondering for YEARS what that thing is that the guy's playing with his fists at 3:49 Phil had real bad luck with marriages. Also, he trained as an actor, so is reeeeally good at getting emotions across. Especially the bitter ones. Also, gotta shout out to the amazing Chester Thompson on drums, who played with Phil & Genesis for about 35 years, & has terrific work of his own. His album Steppin' is awesome.

This song was played loud when as teenager and I was pissed off, could be teachers or family.

I don’t see an answer to your question about the instrument being played in the video. Those are Moog Taurus bass pedals. They would usually be played using the foot, but here they are being played by hand.

Just a great song. I actually prefer this to In The Air Tonight. Along with Like China from the same album, his second.

Love this song. This is gods but, just for your open pleasure, You should watch the live at Perkins palace, his emotions are so real!! He’s in the angry Phil mode and you can’t beat it.

Was just going to say this. If he thinks this version (the studio version) is angry, he has no idea how angry Phil can get on stage. The last minute of the Perkins Palace version is insane.
