This press conference was so inspiring. I have hope that things will change for the better. As a state licensed personal care home provider for the past 23 1/2 years who provides 24 hour care and housing to individuals diagnosed with a severe persistent mental illness, I can attest to the life saving services we offer. We serve people and are a defense against homelessness. It is imperative that our homes receive appropriate funding to keep our doors open. Our SSI residents can only afford to pay between $1.00-$2.00 max per hour for care. It costs more to board a dog overnight, than we receive to care for a human being! Something is fundamentally wrong with this picture when you compare agency operated Personal Care Homes receive a City subsidy and the minority operated homes don't! The discrimination must stop! On behalf of the people we serve, please level the playing field and give us government that works!

This has the potential to be the single greatest move ever by a Philadelphia Mayor in this City’s history.
