Who else could watch the two Doctors sit there and talk for hours on end?? When truly intelligent people get on a stage, we should be smart enough to sit there and listen like this audience did. Dr. Peterson is certainly a deep thinker and I love his heart behind his thoughts. What is glaringly missing in this interview is any mention of Jesus. The entire Old Testament by design, was pointing to a Savior. Yes, that's right, Jesus. I'm not sure why 45 min of time could be used in an interview on a platform this large to discuss the deep things of God but God himself not even be mentioned.
@mycattitude10 сағат бұрын
God was mentioned. I've been a Christian all my life, and there's a time and place for everything under the sun. I have led people to Christ w/out pushing Jesus specifically on them. When people are confused about which religion and which God to follow, trust God and trust the person, who if their heart is sincerely seeking for the truth about God, that they will find it. I had a good friend, just fresh into becoming an agnostic, after being an atheist for years. His time in NA at least led him to lean on a higher power than himself. He knew I was Christian, and I didn't need to hammer Jesus on him. I simply told him to ask God and it is promised that the way would be made clear. It took maybe a whole week and he came back to me quite excitedly and told me how Jesus being the way, and true son of God, God incarnate had been suddenly revealed to him. Trust God and trust people who are genuinely seeking. You're too rigid, as so many are. Peterson is the atheist whisperer, and so many thousands of hard core, indoctrinated atheists have come back to Christ, or come for the first time because of his teaching.
@pastorjer68778 сағат бұрын
@ You led people to Christ without mentioning Jesus? Jesus is God (John 10:30) That seems problematic. Some folks would hear “God” come from your lips and be misled to believe something else entirely. Some would follow the path to Jesus. Causing much confusion. Why not just share the Good News?

Fair, but his point still stands. Your memory priotizes experiences. If you're 30 y.o, there's no way you can remember what you had for breakfast on a specific day when you were 10 - unless that day was an important day for some reason, so your mind held on to the details. Unless the day was important to your self narrative. Then the details would be more clear, and the more relevant to your story, the more clear those details would be. This is also why school teachers would teach things in nursery rhymes.
@sharrodjohnson3368 сағат бұрын
@@stephsdlnthms3957 Our memories aren't structured as stories but creates the narrative/story itself. Stories are a creation of experiences...or the memory of the life we've lived. it depends on what you mean by sense, and it depends on what you mean by elaborate you know, it's incumbent upon someone who takes these things seriously, you know, and I mean _seriously_ to, what would you say, _interrogate_ what they actually mean when they use words, when they use speech, or use vocabulary, to use a word that you used. it's important to be specific, man. And I mean, _be specific_ and let people know what you _actually_ think, you know. because lord only knows how much time we can all lose wading in the weeds when we're not specific, you know. and then what are you going to do?! what will you think about yourself knowin' you wasted your time. no one wants to relate to a loser, man, and that's what you are when you don't speak the truth and bring order that is potential inside of the chaos.

I understand more now what Dr.Peterson means. Integration and disintegration of psyche.When we don't allow certain parts of psyche to emerge and integrate, we are stuck in chaos and immaturity, self- destructiveness. Traditional narratives contain integrative elements. But not only this, l think. That's the nature of reality our psyche has to align to in a process of maturation. Biblical stories and incarnation mean revelation. It shows us the real structure of reality. Otherwise, disintegration and chaos, emotional anguish, and destruction of Western civilisation. The nature of reality also contains truth that we are made in the image of God. We co-create and tend to the union in love. If we stop doing it and disown it because a stupid culture that is based on lies tells us so, we suffer tremendous pain and alienation, which is a path to self-destruction. We disown this central image. Disown our real nature. Peterson talks about voluntarily carrying the most heavy weight for you up the hill to develop to the best version of yourself that you can be. I agree, and it is true in life. This process properly happens when we find God and let Him lead the way. We align with the truth and love. Additionally, in Christian understanding, sometimes suffering isn't invited by us voluntarily. We are crushed by unimaginable suffering - which is a part of the reality we live in - and we have no choice or enough strength. Christ is with us in it. Incarnation happened to assist us in suffering we cannot bear and transform it by God's power. It is not God's fault. Men have to have free will to be able to love. Nature is fallen. God took all suffering of humanity on himself and transformed it. Only God can do it. Only God can understand the deepest suffering humans go through. He is not a distant God. He suffers with us. He is in us. He is almighty but also loving, living God. People of other religions think that it is a strange thing that Catholics have Holy Communion. It is not only a sign it is a reality that is becoming manifested. One of the deepest truths about the nature of reality. Also, on bodily level but all the time spiritually. God transforms the reality of suffering of his creation in this process. It makes sense.

Land of Nod- Western culture is so amazing that every single piece of the Bible has so much depth and truth that Steinbeck wrote his mangum opus using that minor mention in Genesis as a direct metaphor... I dont get people who try to sluff off Christianity from Western civilization - you would not have one without the other. How do you see something with such resonance and distilled truth and not see the devine in that? I dont see how, lets say, an eastern culture teaches western history and civilization without a day one assignment to read the whole Bible. It should be a prerequisite.

This was a good interview. I’ve listened to a few of Jordan’s interviews over the years on his journey to spirituality. Only issue I see is that he really is still trying to explain the word of God not in personal relationship with Jesus way, but rather trying to explain what the Bible is in a humanistic way. What I always sense is he’s trying to say. Well in this story , it didn’t really happen but it’s a metaphor. I feel he’s searching and that’s great but he’s trying to hard to have an understanding of the Word without a total surrender to Jesus. You can be a student of the Word and yet not know the Word himself which is Jesus. But at least he’s searching! I hope he has an experience like Saul did. A highly intelligent man who knew all the Old Testament scriptures and law , yet didn’t know Jesus. But when he seen Jesus on the road to Damascus he was transformed and said of himself, he didn’t want to know anything except Jesus Christ and him crucified

Thats not what "Eve" is defined as in the original Hebrew. "Eve" in Hebrew is "Ḥawwāh" and is most commonly believed to mean "living one" or "source of life". What you have been referring to is actually a description of Eve in Genesis 2:18. The Hebrew name for Eve is "Chava" (Genesis 3:18), derived from the word "Chaya", which means "life", "because she was the mother of all the living" (Genesis 3:18).
@gwistmaya14 сағат бұрын
True. Dr. Peterson doesn't know Hebrew and sometimes gets his translations garbled. But the Bible does state that Woman/Chavah/Eve was created to serve as a "helpful adversary" to Adam. So while he mistranslated her name, he was true to the definition of her role, and the integrity of his argument is intact.
@pastorjer68778 сағат бұрын
@ The role of a woman cannot be summarized in one Greek term. The translation for her name is “suitable helper” and we would be misinformed to not fact check when people just say things on KZbin Tube.
@alexanderayotte88676 сағат бұрын
While the statement he makes in this conversation is inaccurate in the manner you are describing he does break it down correctly in the book itself. Likely a semantic error in the moment on his part.

As a Christian I think Jordan means well but I think his explanations are kind of over the top in regards to following and believing in God. God is the spirit of divine moral intelligence and truth in how we think morally about ourselves and other people. Therefore, first and foremost our focus should be all about our own moral intuition and compass, aiming high in that regard. I find his illustration about imitating the passion of Moses to be somewhat outrageous and scary especially if you're just working week by week trying to pay your bills, and that alone can be enough drama for most people. I understand there is a potential for people to get out of their comfort zones and find projects that will better their lives and the lives of their community, kinda like heroism, wow!! That sounds like charismatic ambition!!! But I guess what he meant to say was to aim high in regards to being pro-active rather than just lounging around at home getting too comfortable. He sounds more like a motivational speaker than a clinical psychologist, saying to us, get off your backside 😅😂

As a TRUE Christian, I’m not impressed at all. I recognize Jordan Peterson as being a secularly intelligent man who has not given his life to Christ and obsesses with getting people to see his revelation of Biblical “stories”. Here’s what will happen. Because people have identified him as “smart”, they will go out after him and be misled. IMHO the Word of God is enough and you need NO MAN to explain anything to you. Hence the Word of God tells us that if we were preached another Jesus, we would accept it. It’s happening! Dr. Peterson is being used as an influence in the wrong way. Folks we need to REPENT FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND! God is not wrapped up with our simplicities, but we need to get ourselves wrapped up with His holiness!
