We should talk about this series. It is clunky in parts but very interesting. This is less depressing, but also really pushes that you should be scared of the "safe spaces". I am really enjoying it. Maybe a roundtable discussion in person?

If we can work out the logistics I’m game for it.

The series was 1st broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK starting 17th September 2017, you are right this wasn't the 1st episode in series as it was shown in the UK

As for my impressions of the entire series it was a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. It was interesting to see how the original source material was adapted and they did get some well known high profile actors staring in episodes. Overall I enjoy it.

I can't claim to have watched the full season either but our original ep.1, The Hood Maker, is my tip (no spoilers). Precisely because of a lack of exposition on some elements, allowing the viewer to work out whats happening in some key moment's. Its a pleasure not to have a story dumbed down too much for TV (not that it's plot needs that much unravelling), and it is, like many in this anthology, in a classic sense, "proper" sci-fi. Particularly notable is actress Holliday Granger whose every expression reveals the thoughts in her head quite wonderfully. Then again I loved Black Museum so...

PKD is immortal when it comes to his written stories, which I review every few years. All the film and series adaptations tend to fall short because quality fiction is best visualized in the mind of the reader.

I just finished watching the anthology and it was very good. It makes you think which is the point.

If you were going to give it one more episode, I would suggest Autofac. For me, the best episode of the series.

Does the collective mini factory fulfillment centers also have a media team that coded the this series too, and whats unique is like any amazon shipped product, someone near you possibly though it up/developed/designed/and made it locally more so than the corporate entity broadly scans, like every working economy and gov.

I was hugely interested in this the second I heard about it. Unfortunately, it was quite a let down. It's not nearly as awful as Black Mirror, but it's not great either. The most unfortunate problems all happened due to changes from the original stories. Had they stuck closer to Dick's writing, some of the episodes would have been much improved.

PKD is the most successful Sci-fi writer in Holywood history - but some of his adaptions Total Recall, Minority Report and Blade Runner - have veered drastically form the originals - which were awesome as short stories

I have not seen this, but I will check it out. From the sound of it, I do not know if I will enjoy it. My suggestion for a show to watch is Inside No. 9. It is another anthology show. It is , in my opinion, a better example of actual black humor. If anything watch the first episode "Sardines."

It's an intriguing watch, if you're in the UK you can watch it online anytime on the Channel 4 website! :)

Hate to tell you, but 'Real Life' was one of the strongest episodes, so it's mostly downhill from there. For some reason, the last four of the season are much better, so you might want to try those first. Don't start at the beginning of the season, because some of those are truly dreadful.

Imo the best episodes were Autofac, Safe and Sound and Human Is. It'd rank Real Life somewhere in the middle.
@robo30076 жыл бұрын
I agree Black Mirror is the better show overall but out of curiosity I checked the average user scores on imdb and Autofac being the highest rated episode with a score of 8.0/10 actually outscores The National Anthem, The Waldo Moment, Men Against Fire, Arkangel, Crocodile and Metalhead.

Not born English speaker. Does spoiler free mean we hear almost all the plot for the episode?! Meaning we get a free spoiler?
@CouncilofGeeks6 жыл бұрын
No, it means the review is free of spoilers. They are not present. In other words, no spoilers.

I have not read all of the original Dick shorts, but from the first episode onward, this show smacks of needless gender and race swapping in order to produce some kind of hollywood quota. Lol. Am I wrong about this? This whole series is forcibly woke. Not nearly as awful and unwatchable as the latest twilight zone incarnation, but after watching several episodes, it is obvious that every episode is mostly designed to deliver woke female leads no matter how many bad plot lines and tacked on endings they need to use to do so. So far, I've seen 4 or 5 episodes, and every one insists on treating white guys like expendable, crummy, or weak dweebs and every woman is a strong woman. Just give me a good story. Great Sci fi can be injerently diverse without forcing anything.
