Just this week our 31 yr old daughter was incidentally diagnosed with hydrocephalus after being hospitalized and diagnosed with spinal meningitis. Last night we listened to this podcast and it was like a voice from Heaven sent to comfort her and all of us before her surgery today! What were the chances of this podcast being produced at this time? What were the chances of us listening to this podcast at the right moment?..since I wouldn’t have normally listened to it till next week. And what are the chances of a guest sharing an experience with hydrocephalus??? Wow! Just another manifestation of God’s love and tender mercies! Christ is aware of each of us and he helps us to feel his love through one another. So grateful for Professor Denning and her incredible testimony and this podcast! Thanks from the bottom of our hearts! ❤

My prayers are with you and your daughter. I know the fear and the learning you are in right now. My son was born with hydrocephalus, and we've learned and sat through many surgeries in 8 years. ❤❤❤❤

Um. Im speechless. I've been listening to every episode of this podcast for YEARS and at least once a week I think, I love John and Hank they're two of my best friends. I should let them know how grateful I am for their companionship while I hike, fold laundry, clean bathrooms or commute to work. But I never have taken the time to actually carve tine to say, "thank you" for these Come Follow Me Lessons. I love all the guests, some more than others. But, Lori, seriously stoke the show. She had me laughing, crying, feeling invigorated and learning in the most entertaining of all podcasts. She's brilliant and spiritual, hilarious, and absolutely delightful. I loved her authenticity. I want more Lori!!!

I was diagnosed with congenital hydrocephalus- had a shunt placed at 2 months old-I went 19 years without any issues and while serving a mission, I started to get really bad headaches/dizziness/fatigue. I eventually had to have the device replaced-the doctors told me afterwards I should have died on the operating table due to the trauma on my brain. I lost the ability to use my arms and legs for a time-3rd Nephi Chapter 17 where Christ invited those in the Americas to come to Him and He would heal them was a powerful reminder of Christ's love and reach of His atoning sacrifice. Fast forward to now-Ive had 16 brain surgeries since then and 3 back surgeries- My life was forever changed as a 19 year old missionary- it prepared me for the trials ahead. Thank you Prof Denning for sharing your story and for your inspiring testimony. Thanks to Hank and John for always giving me hope.

Well I’m not from Spain, but from Brasil and for 15 years I’ve been living in a very small town and here the church isen’t established yet we don’t have missionaries in here so my family and I got to drive 1 hour every single Sunday even at Saturdays also because my husband was called bishop for about 6 years now and it is being a bless in so many ways eventhough is tough. We’re like many more members of the church around the world in remote places doing our best to live and share the gospel of Jesus Christ and help building the Kingdom of God on earth, so Yes, we can do all things through Christ even when it smeens impossible. And until the Lord says we’re free to go we’re going to stay here enduring to the end. Thank you so so so much for doing the podcast, please never stop. It makes me feel close to zion.

May the Lord bless you. I’m sure He is and will. I think you are doing more than I am sitting in my big community of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We take care of each other, and I feel blessed every day, but you are doing something so very very important.💕From Idaho.

For some reason, I was drawn to the poem/song/chiasmus in Philippians 2:6-11. I went to Bible Hub and looked through 20 different versions. When I got to the International Standard Version, I found it in what I would call poetic form. It's worth a look. Thank you for helping me gain a desire to study deeper!

Sis Denning. Let me do the opposite of throwing a sandwich. Let me throw a "thank you"! Thank you for your faith that is pressing against the world (and winning). It takes catching a few sandwiches and rocks for a temple to be built. So grateful that you did your part. It strengthens me to do the same. Again, thank you!

You said prison was different in Paul's time. It made me think of how he got the paper and ink to write, that maybe he took their gift of food or money and used it to buy the paper and give us all a gift of his letter! In stead of getting food for himself Paul fed us first and to eternity! thankZ

Thank you Dr..Denning for sharing your experience. What a miracle you were able to get well! So glad! The story of Joseph who was sold into Egypt is my favorite! I have often noticed that "a certain man" was placed in his path to tell him where his brothers went. It wasn't by happenstance. Without this person, Joseph may never have found them and he might never have been sold into Egypt or risen to 2nd in command and saved his family and the whole country as well as others. I think he could have been an angel sent by the Lord. He allowed it and facilitated it even though he knew what Joseph was in for. I think it is the same for us when we face challenges. Some Bible scholars think he was the angel Gabriel. Genesis 37 14] And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem. [15] And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou? [16] And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks. [17] And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

I have come to know the atonement to be both intimate and infinite. It is infinite enough to cover all my sins, sorrow, struggles and weaknesses but intimate enough to cover the deepest depths of the one I am going through right now. It is infinite enough to cover everyone’s sins, sorrows, travails and weakness and offer everyone help but intimate enough to help just me at the same time. This I know.

Maybe it is John 11:25, I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, Or Matt 11:25, The Lord's Prayer, Or Numbers 11:25, The Lord descends in a cloud, or D&C 11:25 Deny not the spirit of revelation, nor the spirit of prophecy, for wo unto him that denieth these things, or Alma 11:35 Yea, there is a true and living God, or 3 Ne 11:35 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that this is my doctrine, and I bear record of it from the Father; and whoso believeth in me believeth in the Father also; and unto him will the Father bear record of me, for he will visit him with fire and with the Holy Ghost..... Boy, this is a mystery, but one with so many great potential outcomes....

Deborah -- You will be okay, just don't expect it to be something that clears up immediately. Do a search on the internet about living with hydrocephalus. There is one lady who had her surgery when she was around fifty years old, and she's doing great now. She actually goes speaking tours on how to live with hydrocephalus and what to expect. I don't know how long ago your surgery was, but usually around six months after surgery is when you will kind of suddenly start feeling better. My shunt is on the right side.
