The quest brought us to Daro last week to check out a nicely constructed (wood!!) $500 rental. Looks like it was intended as a rooming house for Silliman students before the Dreaded Malady cancelled classes and their plans.

I'd like to see some higher end places. Like 2/3 BR nice place with private pool. Not that I have ton's of cash but I'd like to see what can be had for a bit higher budget. Coming from Thailand I am a bit shocked at the prices for low quality places in the PI.

Very interesting house. I suppose the construction is a good idea. I can't imagine what to do with all the extra rooms and CRs. I don't think I would welcome a bunch of students so maybe this isn't for me and my wife. Roosters could be a problem too. Thanks. Keep 'em coming.

The more videos I see of these $500 (ish) a month houses in Dumaguete you post here the more I realise I would possibly need have to have a way bigger rental budget that could offer a residence that would allow me to be comfortable and happy at home there. Everyone is different, horses for courses and all that, but that's my 2 cents about it.

@andre ibanez I'm actually a Brit ex-pat in Indonesia (Jakarta) with a Filipina wife and 2 kids. I won't scare you with how much my rent/expenses are here but that budget you quote wouldn't even cover my rent. The Mrs and me have thoughts about cutting back and downsizing and maybe returning to the Philippines and simplifying life. But there really are only 2 types of houses it seems, super expensive luxury mega mansions or run down but cheap houses that haven't been updated in 30 years and nothing available in between. We lived in the Phils for 7 years previously and nothing seems to have changed since then regarding that.

Enjoyed the video. You know what I think would help? If you carry with you a digital or dial thermometer/barometer to show the viewers the actual temperature/humidity inside the houses that you show on your vlog. For me, as a potential renter, what I look for is split type inverter AC's and how many rooms it's in, a pool, window screens, a large inside kitchen, at least 2CR's and a convenient dirty kitchen. Hopefully it's in a quiet location, but that's probably the toughest thing to find.

I have had a laser 'temperature gun' since I arrived in the Philippines. You can actually see it being used in "My Hothouse in the Philippines" video when we installed the polystyrene radiant barrier on top of our old house's roof.

That second storage area. Not a storage area (originally?) . On the wall facing the outside wall, you can see where they had a small ma and pa shop there at one time. Even see the sliding latch they used to close up. Remember the first time i went to Olongapo and my step father's family compound had one of those. They used me as slave labor a lot of the time :(

A very excellent dormitory. Long study table with natural light and a dirty kitchen that can accommodate the dozen plus bed spacers who usually prepare simple meals like rice, noodles, tea, Milo etc. Room for charcoal stoves. Hot plate for the inside kitchen/ rice cooker, hot water pot. Most students can't afford the added cost of A/C ; hence, the absence. Most spacers are charged for extra electricity use. If you rent the single room (premium cost) and use a reading lamp and table fan.... you pay for the extra electric use. 12 bunks @ 2K month rent will get you to the asking rental price. Laundry is done by hand. Hopefully classes will resume by 2021. Very clean, nice place. Thank you for showing the model example. Not a lot of need for security gratings when you have so many people on site coming and going at different hours. Can't figure out the expensive lounge couches though. Anyway..... that's how it appears to me.

I would never pay that much for a house that has no stove no refrigerator No hot water heater No air con units installed No shower hardware installed At best just from what I can see in the video I'm sure that this will continue about closer inspection . I have seen numerous videos of Filipino properties as bigger bigger for less money with all the amenities that I've just listed included so I am not impressed with this house the only thing that I did like or the tile floors were very nice . All of the bathrooms and the bunk beds 12 in total almost looks like he was a dormitory house for orphans . and to say that those bunk beds had mattress is on is a real stretch never so thin they would not even be comfortable for a child that alone in adult

I'm looking for about same house as you. So these vids are perfect. I've don't know the area well but am thinking of the Duma-Dauin areas. I just want to make sure it's in a secure area and a no flood ares. At least there you have the ocean. Lockdown in Manila area is boring. If we could travel it would still take 3 to 4 hours to get to the ocean

@@kevinnashskitchen3517 Dude those small rooms with a bed are 10 times as better living conditions then where they came from. Don't bring your western standards on employment to the Philippines because it's not the same. Like the saying goes in Rome do what the Romans do. It's not about being a white savior everywhere u go in the world. I don't try to change shit..I blend it with it.

@@kevinnashskitchen3517 Have u ever lived in the philippines with a maid? That's my question to you? Because we have treated them like family just to get fucked and ripped off in the end. Had we listened to the rich filipino neighbors advice to keep your lives and their lives a business matter probably it wouldn't have happend. I know u mean well..but with some maids you give a inch and they take a mile. Most of the time it's the maid who does something bad to her employer. Ask any filipino and you will hear stories upon stories of similar situations we have faced making the maid apart of the family and then getting screwed. Now when we eat our meals it's our family only. The maid can eat anywhere else. It's a job. She's not there to join the family ranks to feel she has some kind of say in the family. As an american myself it's a hard decision but when they know they work for Americans they know we are more kind then filipino employers and then that's when they take advantage. It's just the honest truth and it is what it is.
