Your observation on the date of our independence day is right. The US has chosen to give us our independence in July 04, 1946 because it corresponds to the date of their own independence day, and up until 1962 PH independence day was being celebrated every 4th of July, but for some reason the president during that period changed it to the date, which was June 12, 1898, when the PH was freed from Spanish colonial rule. Thank you for this wonderful episode! 🇵🇭🤝🇰🇷

I always keep an eye on your vlogs. Yeah, Lapulapu is a delicious fish and he is also the one that beheaded Magellan. Emilio Aguinaldo self proclaimed himself as the president of a free Philippines. He was also the one that ordered the killing of Andres Bonifacio. Keep up the good work Seungha! I hope your channel grows

I love watching your videos its pure and raw. Hopefully, when your channel becomes a hit on KZbin please don't change your style of vlogging. Most of the big KZbinrs they're doing the Philippines content for the sake of money and trend (clickbait) For me, you are genuine one. We know who is real and fake to us. We got you! ;)

Our true independence was actually July 4. But its the same date of US Independence day. Former President Diosdado Macapagal proclaimed in 1962 to move our Independence Day on June 12 to honor Filipino Revolutionaries of independence from Spain and to show to US that we dont want to share same independence day with them 😅

One important point that needs to be emphasized why we celebrate the June 12 independence day from the Spanish, is because it's a date that was won and declared by our Filipino freedom fighters, whereas the July 4 independence from our 2nd colonizer, USA, was just imposed to the Filipinos. It's important to celebrate the date of a hard-earned freedom than the day that was only given out of convenience being the Philippines was still in rebuilding period due to WW2, hence could be considered a liability at that time considering Manila was the 2nd most devastated city in the world, even when the Philippines had nothing to do with the allied-axis wars.

Hi, Seungha. It's great to see a newer upload from you and thanks for the belated Independence Day greetings for us Filipinos. I think you're going to discover more history as you stay longer in the Philippines. There are a few historical movies about Filipino heroes like General Luna and ex-president Quezon. Maybe there'll even be more that will surprise you, aside from Lapu-lapu being the name of a Filipino hero and fish at the same time.😊 Btw, try to upload regularly (maybe weekly if you're busy) to help keep the KZbin algorithm favorable to your video.

annyeonghaseyo. At least your English is acceptable, and at least you cross it properly by speaking English, until the end of your vlog. I just noticed that even though you're using English, your Koreanness still comes out, but that's ok.. wow, you're well prepared for researching Philippine history. You are talking about the battle of Yultong, where the Philippines was the first Southeast Asian country to send soldiers to help the Koreans against those who want to conquer your country. My brother also lived in Seoul for 9 years and if im not mistaken, according to my brother your war between south and north korea is not really over yet. Anyways nice to see you doing your vlog again. 👍👍

Yeah USA just felt so proud too after WWII Philippines fought with them so after the war just gave our independence July 4, 1946. Filipinos believe our real independence is June 12, 1898 not 1946 yeah but thanks to USA they saved our nation too God Bless America 😂😂😂😂 We hope our world really have lasting peace to prepare to alien invaders not our fellow nations. We love one another than wars.

June 12 1898 Filipinos believed is our true independence won by our great heroes but Spain sold our land to USA and continued colonization but granted us July 4 1946 independence thou ultimately. But our past lawmakers got back to our true first independence June 12 coz maybe our past gens won't recognize American colonization. Maybe the Americans finally believed Filipinos after WWII we are great friends and allies so they gave us our independence too. Americans maybe realized Philippines doesn't have to be colonized by them through another 300 years coz our heroes kept fighting them so they are tired and surrendered to let us go anyway 😂 on our own yeah but kept watching us thou as little bro that's great friendship really and we thank USA for it. Yeah Yeah my idol President Quezon is the one who kept pushing America to give us independence he didn't fight America but befriended them and true alliance with them in wwII. I read about it yeah this my history and my great story too believe me or not okay lang 😂😂
