🟢 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

The more I watch you, the more I see a bit of what Anthony Bourdain did, trying to teach people how you should go away from the restaurants and explore the local things and this is what you do a lot, fantastic! Do a DNA test, we knew Bourdain had France, but I wonder what is your origin :D The music in the video, still questionable and too much,. It should be something in the background, here it is like in a horror movie.

I've lived in the Philippines all my life. I am 40 now. This is the first time I've heard of the term "BMW". I studied in a private school and I do not remember Aetas being depicted as "BMW". Yes, they were described as being short with, dark skin, curly hair, and thick lips but not "BMW". I hope no one would think of them that way. The times have changed and a lot of indigenous people are now in big cities, studying in universities and working professionally, For those who remained in their village and chose to live a humble life while preserving their culture, they are not dumb. In fact, they must be admired for their ingenuity, resourcefulness, resilience, humility and strength. I am happy that there are people like Sonny who appreciates the indigenous people around the globe and their cultures. This is the type of content children must be watching and not those random videos of people pranking strangers. Thanks Sonny for your hardwork.

There is this Aeta guy who graduated UP (University of the Philippines) called Norman King. He even had his life portrayed in a soap commercial. He graduated in his natural traditional look too! Which is a bold statement, cause everyone is used to graduation garbs. He really showed that the "Aeta are dumb and ignorant" Thing is not true, and that the thing that is missing is access to urban/modern recourses and proper education, which is NOT their fault at all! These people are in tune with nature, as they have been since the first beginnings of the country. The aeta tribes with their curly hair, tan skin and short stature... The kalinga tribes with their straighter hair, more typical Austronesian/Formosan look and tattoo's... And so many more tribes. They are what makes up the Philippines, and no one should be left behind. For anyone wanting to watch the soap commercial, I urge you to do it with maybe some tissues: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIPKgaNjn857rtE&ab_channel=SafeguardPhilippines

@@bakenbeans420 Well yeah. They got treated similarly to the African tribes when the Europeans arrived. That's why the name for these folk "Negrito" meaning little black person and why theres a region called Negros. So much colorism going on. Fairer skin and well kept hair is still seen as a status symbol. A lot of military groups, notably the Americans actually went to these tribes to train and learn how to survive in the jungles of Southeast Asia. I think it was for the Vietnam war? That's how a lot of them got access to Western media like movies, music and sports. So their survival skills are amazing and so is their resilience. If they were really stupid they wouldn't be around till now...

A tad over twelve years, retired in the Philippines. I have done lizard and python cooked in coconut milk with a few hot peppers to add some kick. We have also enjoyed native chicken cooked several ways. One time, when my friend's bird won, he brought home the looser and made "fighting cock adobo" for our evening meal. Recently, we had a bit more of a mundane meal when our hostess at a resort prepared some ducks from the pond using her "secret recipe" and shared a portion with us as we shared what we had brought to the camp. The Filipino way, friends, food and fun!

What I noticed is that people from Luzon tend to be more racist or elitist. They dont treat other tribes as equal, they even look down on visayan people. Here in Mindanao, we are taught to respect the tribe people

Lol. Visayans are the most chauvinistic people out there, Cebuano-speakers in particular. Even Moros dislike them.

Your enthusiasm to explore Philippine food culture and bring viewers from all corners of the globe along in your culinary journey is truly commendable. Your show not only entertains but also educates. I eagerly anticipate more in-depth Filipino food content in upcoming episodes. Truly, the best food review show ever!
