CEBU, PHILIPPINES - Welcome to Cebu, one of the greatest food cities in the Philippines! Today I’m hanging out with my friends Bhen and Yuri, and we’re going on an ultimate Filipino street food tour - which turned out to be more of an exotic food tour - eating some of the unique, wiggly, and incredibly delicious foods that you can find in Cebu!
Huge thank you to Bhen and Yuri ‪@BhenandYuri‬ - they make fantastic food videos on KZbin and social media, go check them out!
Here’s everywhere we ate on this Cebu street food tour:
1. Jerbie's Kandingan (goo.gl/maps/qt...) - Naga, Cebu, Philippines - Early in the morning we started at Jerbie's Kandingan, known for their variety of stews, and especially Balbacua, a Filipino beef stew using all the hoofs and collage rich parts. The recipe is quite complicated with onions and ginger and pineapple juice and peanut butter. The result is this sticky and extremely tasty stew that’s a perfect easy start to your morning. We also had some Soup number 5, legendary power soup in the Philippines!
2. Ginabot sa Pardo (goo.gl/maps/6F...) - One of the greatest Philippines street foods in Cebu is ginabot, the raffled flower intestines deep fried. But the highlight is the dipping sauce that includes onions, chilies, calamansi, soy sauce, and vinegar. It’s a perfect crispy snack!
3. Delfa’s Tungolan (goo.gl/maps/MT...) - Next up on this action packed Philippines street food tour we went to the legendary Delfa’s Tungolan for her giant pig intestines stuffed with leek and green onions. They are deep fried and served again with the dipping sauce which makes it insanely tasty.
4. Brigols (goo.gl/maps/pb...) Mandaue City, Philippines - Another famous street food in Cebu is Tuslob buwa, pig brains melted with lard and scooped up with compressed rice. It’s fun to eat and it’s a delicious was to make full use of all the parts of the pig.
5. Matias BBQ (goo.gl/maps/Fh...) - Finally to complete this ultimate Cebu street food tour we went to the iconic Matias BBQ, a household name in Cebu. We had some delicious organ skewers and tame chicken wings to end!
What a day of Filipino street food, eating some of the most extreme meats and foods Cebu has to offer!
Thank you again to Bhen & Yuri: / @bhenyuri

I'm Canadian, but my family lived in the Philippines for 5 years when I was a kid. We lived on a small island called Marinduque and often visited Manila. We went to Cebu, Baguio, and Palawan on trips as well. Filipinos are the friendliest, kindest people, who treasure people and hospitality. I have many favourite Philippine foods, but especially Filipino pork BBQ, ensaymadas, pancit, bebinca, lumpia, whole roasted pig (especially the skin), sweet wrapped sticky rice, and even Shakey's pizza! Also San Miguel Beer (even though I was a bit young)😊. I also remember so many commercial jingles from the Philippines - very musical with catchy melodies. I'm still Facebook friends with many of the people I met in the Philippines (late 70s, early 80s). The foods in this video are definitely on the extreme end of the spectrum as described, but most Filipino foods are quite tame and yummy. "Ang sarap!" (It's delicious!)

@@MarkWiens Thank you very much for the reply Mark. I didn't expect a reply from a 'superstar' food vlogger because of the huge volume of comments from your millions of followers and subscribers. I've been following your food adventures since I discovered your channel. What made me admire you is your authentic approach to food, your utmost respect to every culture you visit and most of all, your legendary big appetite for huge amount of food but you remain lean. Must be the ultra-high amount of heat your body generates from eating ultra-spicy food that keeps your metabolism ultra busy? Yes, I discovered that eating spicy food and avoidance of cold drinks/water/beverage altogether keeps our body metabolism working in its optimum. Thanks for inspiring me Mark.

Are Pampagueño foods really that good or because they're more exotic? I've heard too many comments that it is the food capital of the Phils. Somehow it's kind of not going along the line because the further south you go anywhere, the spicier the foods are. The only Pampangueño food I tasted was too bland for my taste, yet the restaurant owner said it was very good and was typical of their dishes. I'm really curious and I like to taste more to figure out when I have a chance.
@EckRD

Cebu cuisine > Pampanga 😉 Pampanga dishes will be bland to most Cebuanos and visayan folks. The further south you go, hot chili, curry, and coconut ingredients are used.

Hey, Mark! Love the video and your positivity. I am from Cebu and I eat plenty loads of Ginabot aka Bulaklak (Flower), but I noticed two things Bhen didn't tell you; 1. He made you eat the stem of the chili and 2. He made you eat the lemonsito seeds. It's still great that you enjoyed it, but next time it's better if you let the vendor cut the chilies and remove the stem/stalk it tastes a lot better without the stem/stalk. Also, make sure you don't eat the seeds of the lemonsito because it's hard to chew and tastes bitter if you bite and squish it with your teeth. Anyways, I love your videos and I wish you safety and good health with your travels. Cheers!

I don’t see anything weird or bizarre with the Filipino dishes he has tried. I’ve tried a lot of Filipino foods and it’s criminally underrated imho.

This is one of the bravest episodes I've seen Mark do. Granted, different culture, but I had to eat fried intestine at a Chinese Christmas party with an ex girlfriend and it tasted like your worst imagination. For you to stomach that plus "male organs" in the same episode, wow, respect!

What makes him brave to eat intestine? Animal intestine is eaten in every part of the world. Even the skin of the sausage that you love to eat is an intestine. You're just a picker eater westerner. Don't spread your ignorance here.

True bro, some culture prefer stronger taste but in the Philippines, they usually make it differently, I find it so satisfyingly delicious and even addictive even for first timer, maybe the palate thing which is more on the Spanish side of cooking and lots of onions and garlic.

several years ago i stayed in the Philippines for 1 month coming from USA. my health actually improved while living there....maybe it was the lack of gluten and/or dairy...idk. I ate a lot of rice even for breakfast, eggplant, and fish.
