Yes, it can. I have one myself and have used it that way.

Wet/Dry shavers cannot be run directly off the plug. That would violate the water tight integrity of the shaver.

I can say from experience using the 5000 series about 2.5 minutes for a super close shave. I do go a little faster when shaving.

It was either the original 9000 or the 9000 prestige which was £100 more on Amazon But I decided to go with original 9000 as it was cheaper and not much different to be honest I paid £230 which is still a lot for a shaver! to be honest so will have to see if it’s worth it
